There was a guy on this board a few weeks ago, who said he never bothers with secondary weapons, escorts or fighters; just loads his Lazira up with phase cannon and goes for it. Pythons everything - said he even went after the Voinian Dreadnought that way. Thanks to the 1/4 damage bonus thing, this is perfectly possible... but... ugh! What a slow, boring job! Everyone needs a hobby, I guess.

Lol, I did the same thing... But with an Arada!

I'm trying to decide if I should abandon my Phase Cannons and Turrets for Neutron weapons. But in order for me to make the switch, I'd need to know if my ship would be as effective in the Cresent with Neutron weapons as it is now with Phase weapons (Not that I'm having a picnic with my current configuration; I can barely scratch Iggies).

    • I have compiled the stats of all primary weapons in a handy table at (url="http://"http://www2.active.ch/~christi1/weapchar.htm")http://www2.active.c...i1/weapchar.htm(/url)

      Have fun.

    • OK, now the table comprises all weapons of EVO. Same link: (url="http://"http://www2.active.ch/~christi1/weapchar.htm")http://www2.active.c...1/weapchart.htm(/url) .

    • Ah! Very helpful, thanks!

Still, different people have different opinions, regardless of stats. What do you think? Should I switch?

    • Oh yes, neutrons are perfect aim, except against fast moving targets, since they're slow..

    • Looking at that chart, I think I may stick with my Phase Turrets, but replace my Cannons with Neutron weapons. The Phase Turrets should still be able to take out those pesky fighters, while the Neutron cannons should be able to wipe out enemy Capital ships. Right?

Some folks prefer a slightly imperfect accuracy, since it eliminates blind spots. Try mounting one blaze turret - it'll knock light incoming fighters back a little, and force them out of your blind spots if necessary.

    • the chart is awesome

    • check out Celtic Starbase. It has everything you want. Trust me.

Why are there no maroon ships?

    • Surprisingly, if you are hitting direct hits every time, the Blaze Cannon actually does about the same damage per second as the Neutron Turret. Not that I prefer the blaze or anything.

    • What's the Disco Machine Gun? Is it an easter egg like the forklift?
(If it is, how do I get it?)

      ------------------
Geez... All the good signatures are taken...

    • It's an easter egg, but nothing like the forklift.... and I don't believe that you can get it, even with the unlimited outfits plug.... maybe someone has made a plug that just downright gives you the DBMG? no idea.

      **

It's easy to get the Disco Macine Gun. Just create a plug-in with ev-edit that add one outfit; a wepon has the same wep. # as the DMG. Or you can use mine 😄

Except that it's kind of dead and messed-up right now...
But the link is (url="http://"http://celticstarbase.tsx.org")http://celticstarbase.tsx.org(/url) .

Celtic Starbase was great, though, until its unfortunate destruction...

And what would the point of that be? Please refer to my other post about cheat plug use giving false senses of ability.

    • I had posted this a LONG time ago (about 2 years, I think). All the numbers are straight from resedit. Anyone who wants to, feel free to check my math.
Anyone who considers knowing how much damage the weapons do a spoiler should not read this post

      Blaze Cannon:

      Damage to Shields / shot : 6
      Damage to Armor /shot : 5.25 (*)
      Shots in 600 frames : 50
      Damage to Shields / 600 frames : 300
      Damage to Armor / 600 frames : 262.5

      Speed (pixels/frame) : 12.5
      Life (frames) : 20
      Range (pixels) : 250

      Inaccuracy (degrees) : 7

      Blaze Turret = 2 x Blaze Cannon (14 ° inaccuracy)

      Phase Cannon:

      Damage to Shields / shot : 15.25 ()
      Damage to Armor /shot : 4.75 (
      )
      Shots in 600 frames : 25
      Damage to Shields / 600 frames : 381.25
      Damage to Armor / 600 frames : 118.75

      Speed (pixels/frame) : 20
      Life (frames) : 18 (rear/swivel : 16)
      Range (pixels) : 360 (rear/swivel : 320)

      Inaccuracy (degrees) : 0 (rear/swivel : 1)

      Phase Turret = 2 x Phase Cannon (1° inaccuracy)

      Neutron Cannon:

      Damage to Shields / shot : 32.5 ()
      Damage to Armor /shot : 17.5 (
      )
      Shots in 600 frames : 24
      Damage to Shields / 600 frames : 780
      Damage to Armor / 600 frames : 240

      Speed (pixels/frame) : 7.5
      Life (frames) : 50
      Range (pixels) : 375

      Inaccuracy (degrees) : 1

Neutron Turret = 1 x Neutron Cannon (2° inaccuracy, 45 frame life, 337.5 pixel range)

      Emalgha Cannon

      Damage to Shields / shot : 6.25 (*)
      Damage to Armor /shot : 25
      Shots in 600 frames : 25
      Damage to Shields / 600 frames : 156.25
      Damage to Armor / 600 frames : 625

      Speed (pixels/frame) : 5
      Life (frames) : 40
      Range (pixels) : 200

      Inaccuracy (degrees) : 5

Emalgha Turret = 1 x Emalgha Cannon (20° inaccuracy, 35 frame life, 175 pixel range, not a full turret)

(*) The formula for damage to shields is (energy damage) + (mass damage)/4. I am not sure how/if the game rounds these values, so I left the decimal points on. These are then multiplied into the damage / time, and they may cause those figures to be off. If anyone knows how the rounding is done, plese let me know.
