It's compressed using QT since QT at a higher resoulution allows lower file size (accroding to Graphic Converter).

I'll see if I can dig up the Borg. I've repartitioned my drive in anticipation for OS X (ten)!

    • Now I'm happy, it looks so much better in 32-bit. Use it, I like it, all the detail is cool. Dear god what am I saying, I like something that has to do with Star Trek!

**Just a quick 'nother mention about the borg and the ship you (Metzen) had shown (you're gonna hate me for this;) But Troy did put in a lot of detail that was lost.

Actually, Troy (my little bro and 3D artist extrodinairé!) put it together with dynamically linked appendages. I think that is used in the right context. 😕 He made one side with tons of different plates and pipes placing them where ever he felt necessary (he doesn't preplan anything or sketch it out, he just goes on whims!!! I wish I could do that... ) and than made a interesting series of pipes or plates a "grouped" object so when he made another side of the cube he could just rotate, resize, and reposition those pieces to get a all new side of the cube. He had like 20 appendages he could manuver and alter.

Needless to say, the file size for the Borg Cube was around 15megs including textures and lights and about 5megs without all that, just model data. If ever you've worked in Strata3D, you'll know 15megs for something like that is just huge!!! I've done full buildings that maxed out at 7megs and believe me, they were gourgous!!! Maybe I'll show you all my stuff someday...

And you description describes it near perfectly.

That is a very good PICT of a Borg ship. However, not all the green light comes from inside. There are some green lights on the exterior hull, but the PICT is still VERY VERY GOOD.

However, did you know that there is 5 DIFFERENT kinds of Borg vessels?

      1. Borg Cube: The standard type of Borg vessel, and the one displayed on the PICT above.

      2. Borg Sphere: A ship that looks like a Borg cube, but is spheracle. These are becoming more and more common in the Borg armada. This vessel is usually not used for combat.

      3. Borg Probe: A small rectangular vessel with angled edges. Only one of these had appeared in Star Trek as far as I know. When it did appear it was in "Dark Frontier".

      4. Borg Vessel: I do not know the exact name of this kind of ship. It is diamond shaped, with a purple and green core in the center. The only time one of these showed was in "Dark Frontier", a ST: Voyager.

      5. Borg Tactical Vessel: Smaller than a cube, but otherwise the same shape. It is extremely well armed and shielded, and is highly dangerous. Each side is covered by four separate grey metal armor plates. The only time this vessel was shown was in the latest season ender "Unimatrix Zero", a VOY cliffhanger.

P.S. The reason I know all this is because I LOVE Star Trek!!

    • As for the Warbird PICT, I like both, but I favor the newer one. The second one looks more real. The first one just doesn't look right, too green. Romulan ships are never that green.

    • The #4 is called the borg diamond.

And #3 is called the borg interceptor.

There is also a ship called the borg "Detector" but I don't think it's been on any startrek shows.

    • The #4 is called the borg diamond.
And #3 is called the borg interceptor.

Are you getting this from Armada?

    • If you mean "Startrek: Armada" for the PC, thats where I got this stuff. It's cool.

    • Yes. I hated Star Trek: Armada. The graphics are awesome, but it isn't a fair representation of the Star Trek universe in my oppinion.

    • How far have you gotten in armada if you own it? And yes I think the scaling and stuff are WAY off, but it is pretty cool. Have you ever detonated a Phoenex class ship? Now THOSE are cool graphics.

    • I played it at a friends house.

On subject, I really like the newer Romulan Warbird.

Awesome, but the shade of green could be a touch darker and the bump map a bit stronger.

    • I really prefer the brighter colored one. Its a little bit too bright though.
The other one is a little more detailed, but way too dark.

    • My god thats amazing. I'm a bit of an artist myself (pencil paper type, not computer graphics) and I know i've done some good stuff in my time, but i tried working with the computer computer but... RRRRR I really cant figure out the best ways to do it. I have strata 3d (it wont work but thats not the point) and mechanisto is impossible to use. How exactly is it done, do you draw them or something in a draw or other thing, or is it all done in the rendering program?

I like the light green one better, but they both kick ass. Your bro rules man!
