A mac may cost a pretty penny, but it will be useful for a lot longer.

That is all a matter of opinion. A machine is only as fast as the idiot using it. The only thing that matters is how long it takes you to accomplish a task from the moment you sit down at your computer, until the task is finished.

PC has the advantage is the wider amount of available software and hardware. The other advantage being that one company does not control all the hardware and OS. Which could be seen as a disadvantage as well. Can you defrag a Mac Harddrive? Can you safely partition part of a hard drive without erasing data in another partition?

Can you buy Mac hardware for the same price? Hardly. You can buy two 500 MHz processors for $84 and put them on your own dual CPU board. Oh, that is another thing... ever heard of a Mac motherboard not made by Apple? Ha!

    • As I said before, PC's may have certain assets that make them more convenient to have than a Mac, but that doesn't necessarily make them better. I'm not arguing the validity of PC's. Many PC's are good and useful computers. I'm simply saying that Mac users shouldn't always have to justify buying or owning a Mac against a PC. Saying things about motherboards and software and expecting people to say "Hey, that guys right. I should dump my Mac" is a step into mediocrity.

For me and many people here, Macs are simply more practical. Longevity, durability, and compatability, ease of use, and for some, even style are some of those practicalities. If those things don't matter to you, then fine, buy a PC. But don't come telling the people it does matter to to "go get a PC", for any reason. When Jon Egunner said his praise of Mac, I didn't hear him saying anything about bus speed, or motherboards, or disk partitioning. And the reasons DarkBlade stated for the Mac being better have little to do with what you said.

It seems like nitpicking. There's no broad way to truly justify telling every Mac user to get a PC, so you resort to fine-tooth-combing your way to reason. I and many here could probably just as easily nitpick a PC's hardware, but it's beside and beneath the point.

It's obvious they just likes their Mac(s), and simply saying that is enough. 🙂

Isn't that like the best male athlete of all time STILL being a male?

No, as a matter of fact, it is not. It is, however, just a game. Comparing it to anything even remotely having to do with gender is just way off the bar. That's like me saying that the computer industries lack of Mac software is like racism. It is not. Your 'analogy' insinuates far more than what was actually said by the person you quoted.

Apparently, you didn't understand me. I was not trying to convince anyone which was better. I was merely stating it was all a matter of PERSONAL preference. While stating the good points of a PC which had not really been brought up in this topic.

He said, Best Mac game still is a Mac game. By Male athlete being a male athlete, I meant... duh, the best Mac game is GOING to be a Mac game no matter what. The best male athlete is not going to be a woman!

    • I think everything that can be said about KibblesNB's question has been said. Everything else is just fodder. If anyone has anything objective or constructive to add, I'm listening, but everything else, including some of what I said(most), isn't.

The Mac vs. PC debate is eternal, but that's not what was asked. The question has been answered. But, who am I to tell those who want to continue ranting not to. You wanna rant, rant! But I give up. 🆒

PS: Okay, Soviet mikee, I misread you a little. But not totally. You may not have said it in so many words, but you were certainly insinuating that the PC was better. If you ask me to clarify, I will.

No I wasn't. I was bringing up that PCs have advantages, I in no way insinuated that one was better than another.
I own Macs, I even work at a Mac store! Where I work on them, sell them..and convince those that think Macs are "bad" that a Mac is an intelligent choice.
      So
      =p

    • Okay, mikee. I give up. I guess I read a little too much into what you said, but, some of what I said can still stand on its own, right?

      Right. 🆒
