    • where do you draw the line?

I'm just wondering where the moderators draw the line on the language we use.

I mean what do the moderators class as swearing and what do they not.

Because i respect the fact that stuff like f----- (only using as refernce please don't tell me off like last time) isn't exceptible but what about stuff like Crap and arse. (only reference)
Moderators Please tell us were the line is drawn on language. It would be very usefull šŸ˜„

this is asked because I got warned about my last post.

      ------------------

    • Did I tell you off? šŸ˜‰ I didn't mean to. I was just responding to enquiries about swearing.

I draw the line at insults and disrespect towards other members of the board, and groups of people in general or specific (any sort of bigotry, for example). I also will delete or "bleep out" any obscenities or swear words that are used just to disrupt the boards or that are particularly strong or offensive to most people.

I truly believe that that there are much more expressive and creative ways to convey ideas, beliefs, and emotions than through the use of words and phrases that insult or offend others.

I would like to see friendly and courteous boards where anyone can feel comfortable posting their opinions, ideas, and asking for and giving help.

      Jude

      ------------------

    • o.k then.
      Thanx šŸ˜„

      ------------------

    • Of course, if you can't accept swearing, you really shouldn't be on the internet.

But hey, I guess I support that kind of "minor" censorship. Try living where I do, then you'll understand.

But if you're talking about offensive stuff in terms of other members of these boards, would anyone be offended if I described Windows as "****ty"?

      Just curious...

but you have to say it is šŸ˜„ (windows i mean)

      ------------------

    • Evidently so.

    • Making fun of windows should be allowed, I mean weere all Mac users.
O.k all of us except for the people using emulators.

      ------------------

    • If you're using an emulator, you obviously don't think much of whatever OS you're using the emulator on, right?

I mean, if you loved windows so much, you wouldn't be running a Mac emulator on it.

I wonder when this topic's gonna get deleted?

Please understand that I don't WANT it to die. But We're not really talking about Override here. We're talking about the Override board.

As far as I understand it, that qualifies us for extermination...

    • Why?

      ------------------

    • I'd kinda like to know too, what do you mean legally?
      Are macs illegal somewhere?

    • I've been using Macs all my life, but I don't think one platform is necessarily better than another. Each has attributed I like, I just know my way around a mac really well. I think Macintosh programming is more reliable versus windows programming (that one's obvious) but windows is more easily modified on a basic level than Macintosh. You can mess around with a lot of the features and much of the programming. Just a couple of examples.

    • well... everyone knows that Macs are better. Even Bill Gates knows that...... why do you think that PC's have "Recycling Bins"??? Now, ya never thought about that, huh? Well, the Windows OS is a total and blatant rip off of the Mac OS (and it's not even a better OS).

Anyway.... I think swearing is ok to an extent.. for example, the topic name of one of my recent posts was "weird ****'s a happenin'"... and I thought that was perfectly ok... I came by some super weapon, and thought I'd share it with everyone. And all is well. šŸ˜„

      Peace.

    • I really don't understand why some people are offended by certain words at all. Could someone enlighten me?

    • Ok, let's try this:

      You're an ******* .

Did that offend you? Now you start to get the right idea. But swearwods suck. There's no reason why people should be offended by a random collection of syllables, or why anyone should use those words in the first place.

Here's an idea. The word "rabbit" will now replace the word "f*ck" - ok?

"Why the rabbit isn't this rabbiting thing working?"
      "It's a rabbiting PC, sir."
      "Rabbit off, you rabbiting idiot!"
"Rabbit you, sir. I'm a rabbiting officer!!!"

      See? It's all pathetic.

Hmmm... you want the truth? well, you can't handle the truth! šŸ˜„ (but, I'll tell ya anyway)

We live in a pathetically PC (politcally correct, not personal computer) society where if one hair falls out of place, anyone has the law-given right to cry unfair and haul your monkey-ass to court. LONG LIVE AMERICA!!! šŸ˜„
