      I was looking at "Macgamer's Ledge"'s Future Releases and I noticed that EV3 has ATI 3D card support. iS this true? And is it required?

      I believe some sort of hardware acceleration is necessary for the funkiest of the graphic effects, though I'm not sure.

      It could use some moderate 3D effects for things like lighting, kinda like how Diablo II isn't entirely 3D but still has some benefits from 3D cards.
