Cant get it to work on this computer...

Ive been trying to get EV to work on my new Mac G5, but I cant get it to work. First it said it needed more memory, so I gave it more... Now when I open it, it works, but its all jerky, and you cant even make the ship go straight. Its like a really slow flipbook or something.

Has anyone else had this problem? Please help!

Ive had EV for years on other computers, but this one wont work. 😞

    • Yeah, it's not your G5. It's because of the choppy graphics is the graphic driver in OS 10.3, so it won't work in classic.

If you want to run EV with OS X, it's best if you port it through Nova or Override.

How do I do that?

    • Lemme find the links here:

      EV:N Mac

      EV Classic Conversion
      EV Override Conversion

This is the deal: Find the folder that has EV Nova in it. Find the folder named "Nova Files" within the EV Nova folder. Name it "Nova Files EVN". Unstuff these two archives. You should see folders that say, "Nova Files Override" and "Nova Files Classic". Move both of these folders into the EV Nova folder.

Now rename either "Nova Files Classic" or "Nova Files Override" to "Nova Files" and run the game. It will now boot as an older version. BTW you have to be registered for this to work.

      Hope that helps!

    • Yeah, Shrout, I think that's about it.

I had to do the same for my poor, Mac-deprived Windows 2k machine here...I got EV:N, and ported Classic on it.

Then I got smart, (I missed using a Mac on a regular basis...now I use it every day!) and got meself a Mac emulator YARR!(Oh, and they have Mac emulators for Mac, too...so you can run programs like EV:C on a G5 with OS 10.3. You should check it out: http://www.emaculation.com)

I run OS 7.5.5 at 800x600 resolution, Millions of colors (32-bit), and I gave it a 500 MB Virtual HDD, and 200 MB of my 256 MB of RAM. I'm running a (LEGAL! I got it here: http://www.the-under...g/nonpc.php#a1) Quadra ROM (700 or 900, I don't know) with a 680x0 architecture (sadly, I can't do PPc, for I haven't yet copied my PPC OS 9 ROM from home yet (can't get the Mac up and running quite yet...). And I run EV:C, and now make plugins for it.

Yes, a strange combination of emaculation and underdogs can get you a working Mac emulator on Mac.

      Hope that helps, too.

    • Hmm, if you're using Basilisk II (as the link you provided indicates), I don't think you'll be able to use a PPC ROM. Basilisk can only emulate 68K.
