The Cheat, that strike fighter is too fast to have that kind of protection(and fire power), especially at that price. Plus, 10 days is much too long a research time for a mear fighter. 4 days is more sutable.

Nexus System
As the Nexian fleet turns for another such run, the Jadzian fleet reforms and uses it's formation's flexability to turn, meet it's attackers head on. Bomarding the incomming hostiles with missiles and torpedoes at maximum range, they manage to break up the Nexian charging line a little as their pilots desperatly try to dodge the rapidly approching projectiles with limited success. A volly of heavy rockets at short range reduces their numbers considerably, and turret fire claims a couple more. A moment later a fighter group from Jadzia apears with a flash of light and they move toward the main group while targeting the buzzing swarm of defenders...

Today is the first test of the disrupter weapons. A broken-down shuttle was towed into space after having it's sheild grid repaired and activated.
"Begin firing." - unimportant
The new cannon constructed started firing and the shuttle's shields quickly dropped and it's hull only took one shot before the cannon itself melted before their eyes due to a leak in the power conduit.

Captain Smith walked over to the ships phone. "Now hear this: We're launching our attack on the planet. All hands to battlestations." He braced his self as the Peace Maker 9 started thrusting away from the planet.

The independent defenses were falling rapidly... Out of 100 Hawks and 50 Defenders, only 50 hawks remain with no missiles left. The only damage inflicted on the Confederate fleet was a loss of 10 patrol ships...

What was left of the defenses now attempted to move around the edge of the invaders, but it was no good. The range they needed to pass around at without being shot down was too far away to make it an effective manuver. With no hope of victory or even inflicting any losses, rather than surreder, the pilots formed into a single file line and charged at one damaged frigate at top speed.
The line dwindled from missiles, torpedoes, and rockets, but enough made it to their target to destroy it. The ensuing blaze of proton fire that erupted from the confederate fleet ripped and tore through the martyrs leaving only debrie and the occasional wing. Propus was left without a defending force...

Confed Fleet:
10 Cruisers (30 Patrol ships)

On other planets, there was a tradition. In grim situations, when all fathomable chances of victory had disapeared, there was one thing left to turn to. It was not done just in war, but in most contests of speed, agility, power or mind. The last ditch effort to win any major conflict is the rally cap.

Unfortunately, the rally cap was never invented around Nexus.

The Nexian fleet scrambled nervously at the sight of the reinforcements. Trying not to break form, they continued to use the remaining ships to batter the Jadzian force. The defenders wove around desperately firing in between the Jadzian ranks. The remaining lightning dodged around for a while but eventually fell victim to a heavy rocket. Firing the second round of missles, the hawks did some additional damage. However, the reinforcements overwhelmed the fleet, and desptie putting up a valiant fight, they eventually failed.

Nexus Outpost
The stations personel watch the last of their defenders go up in flames in horror. What makes them fear all the more is the Corvettes comming in to deploy marines to take the station.
"Have 2 Vettes dock in the station and drop their troops there... the rest of us will use marine pods. Fighters, cover us in case of intervention." - Admiral Vilson calmly issues orders to the fleet...
Marines pour out of the Corvettes and slowly purify any of the brave souls that try to stand up against them. After a couple hours the Commander in charge of the forces reports that Nexus is under full control at the loss of several good men.
Reports are sent to Jadzia.

Patmos walked out of his private conference room with a strange look. His officers knew that it probably had something to do with the strange communication from the Rebels. Patmos knew they were loyal enough that he could tell them anything, but lower officers wouldn't approve of any dealing with the enemy. Many of them had been persecuted by the previous administration attempting to gain the support of traders and independents. God would protect them. God wouldn't do all the work, however, he needed to insure his success and the Rebels wouldn't help with that unless he bargained much more smoothly then taking an initial offer. Perhaps he should communicate with the Confederacy to see what they could offer him. He dismissed the thought after a moment; the Confederates were too persistently perfect, and far too remote to provide any advantages or threats.

“Father.” A young man crisply saluted Patmos as he walked past. “The new modifications are being worked out on the Argosy. The first few prototypes should be ready soon.”

Patmos listened disinterestedly before summoning another aid. “Privateer’s Haven is requesting a force build up. Send them all profit for a secondary mobile fleet.”

“Yes Father.”

The defenders of Tiber tore off the planet, though a bit belatedly. The cruisers noted five frigates heading towards them, with the rest of the fleet heading around the backside of the planet. Accordingly, the destroyers headed off towards the main portion of the fleet along with the Mantas, who started launching their missiles at the Defenders and Patrol ships. The destroyers chose their primary target as the Rapiers, while the 15 cruisers quickly crushed the five frigates that had been sent against them. On the other side of the planet, carnage reigned as fighters mixed up along side the destroyers and rapiers, with the 5 remaining frigates and 5 cruisers beginning to enter the fray.

"Oh, the fleet is fine I haven't neglected it, but it could use the return of it's star warrior. However, I don't know if battle with Lethe will be necessary much longer."

"Yes, saw your proposal too, but I just want to make sure we're ready."

"Have no fear Brock. I'll order somemore ships today. We'll be just fine."

"Okay, sir. Well, that was all I had." The old soldier stands up and salutes the General as he leaves the room. With his departure General Swithich ponders over his options.

"I better play the safe move; Jenny."

"Yes, sir."

"Order, four more corvettes and a lightning with our budget for this term."

"Yes, sir. Anything else."

"No that will be all." As the AI leaves General Swithich ponders his options: continue this stupid war, force the Lethe to accept by force, or go to a higher authority. The he remembers his other problem, the pirates.
