You can buy elixers to raise you stats from witch finger.
Mages bring in good cash and xp, and are Vary easy targets, Liliths are a gold mine with alot of droped items also. and minotars are a good cash crop too.

Personally, I like to go to Reef's Island to make money, and down into the Guardian Cave (but, of course, not to his chamber) to raise my XP drastically. If you can take on Liliths pretty well, I would suggest spending your money mostly on luck elixers at first. Once your luck is up quite a bit, then you'll be earning more per expedition, and will be able to buy more strength and dexterity.
Oh, I almost forgot. If you want a lot more HP, you might better buy a bulk of vitality elixers.
I'm sure others take a different strategy, but this worked well for me.

That's the stratagy I use, but I have started a new Trinity game (i'm a ranger) so I haven't been buying luck/vitality potions/exilers.
