I've played ev forever, and i've done most of the tcs. BUT, i had taken a break and was just about to return to play BOTK. To my suprise, EV isn't really functioning...Now, i do have jaguar (and classic), and i've heard about something weird going on with classic, but all my other programs work with it- so i wouldn't think that i needed port authority. Trouble is, i completely erased all my pilots and ev and everything and re-downloaded it, etc., because i thought that maybe there was some corrupt pilot file or plugin or data file or whatever- just start fresh right? Well, i did that, and still whenever i enter the ev game environment nothing is smooth. I can open the program, but my ship doesn't respond normally to commands- everything is really choppy- i tried landing, that works, and fleets appear and weapons fire and such, but it is almost as if something with graphics or speed is messed up. I tried with my own limited knowledge to look into EV Data and Graphics with Resedit, but honestly i don't think i know enough to spot something funky. So to get down to it i'm wondering if it's just some conflict with something on my computer or if anyone else with jaguar has experienced this? Again, classic is functioning fine, and although it may seem so, i'm not even using any plugs at the moment. Thx for your thoughts.

I think the issue here is you have a slow machine... At least, not fast enough to emulate EV.
Try booting it in OS 9, unless you want to Port Authority it.
