Does anyone know exactly what the pathfinding ability does and how it works?

pathfinding is the able to see secret passages. its an "always on" type of skill once you learn it you always do it.

Secret paths will be shown to you with an 'S' inside a circle at the entrance. I hope this helps.

You get it by talking to Katryna (sp) in Fantrima. She's the one that gives you the 'clear all the Kobolds from the road on the way to Guyden camp' quest(Will be listed in you quest log as Roadkill). After you do this and talk to her husband at Guyden Camp, go talk to her in Fantrima again. She will then send you on another quest to get something for her. If you succeed, take it back to her and she will give you pathfinding skills.

also, if you killed the thief that stole emilius's book (like I did) she, Mary Kristina, is the one that you need to bring the lightbreeze scroll to. If you didnt, the thief in the light breeze cave will just teach it to you. You probably dont know what im talking about but if you remember what she said about her fathers thief friend, and you find the cave that hez in, youll know what im talking about. I just thought this might help since i see this question pop up so much on the web boards.

I got them, but I can't find the guy who's supposed to teach me more Pathfinding Skills, could you help me, but not give it away?

when you talk to her, she says that she is limited in her abilities she can only teach you what her father taught her before he died. Then she says that she knew that her father had a frined in the business (thievery 2 be exact) and that he might be able to teach you a more advanced skill, that is if you can find him. However this thief was friends with the thief who stole the book from the learning tree's druid and if you killed that thief, then the thief that Mary Kirstina was talking about will try to kill you when you find him. After youve killed him you get the "lightbreeze scroll" (either from his dead body or from a chest), which you take to mary kristina to decipher, and SHE teaches you the awareness skill. However if you paid the book-thief the 50 gold for the book, the thief that Mary Kristina mentioned (her father's friend) will not try to kill you but congratulate you on getting that far (hes in a crypt/cave that is south of the yarendeep lake, and in case ur wonderin, the lake is south of the plains of the enless wind. To cross it you have to go through a cave which ill let you find for yourself. Oh ya and the plains of the endless wind are south of berglum, the place across the bridge that the lumberjaks build 4 u) and teach you the skill of awareness, himself.

i think it takes a little bit more, but what do i know im not a moderater. They coulda just missed it or since i asked some questions a while ago that might make it so i have 2 do more than if i just beat the game and logged on to help others out. I like helpin others, but i also was helped (although it was mostly by the moderater ArcAngel Counterstrike). Its nice havin karma but i dont think it does anything other than give you recognition as a "good person" or "Bad person" as the case may be. Besides i have some time 2 burn (not much) and i can't think of anything better. If you have anymore questions, ill PROBABLY be able to answer them.
