I have the "strange key" and I still can't get past the gate at the end of the cave in High Garendall. It says I'd "never get past without the right key" or something like that. Lame! AAC I am in need of your wisdom once again....

Is that what it is? I am having the same problem, I simply cannot find the key to get past that gate. Or is that the end of the game?

You need a special emblem from the elf and that is the key.

The gate is the last thing you have to worry about. You have to complete all other missions (other then the extras, like the dark fairy quest) before you are given the key to the gate. The HG missions are up in the ruins and caves near the ruins.
