First off, try to be a bit more descriptive than "help" for your subject.

Secondly, the jury is still out as far as Reb vs. Fed cruisers, although I think most people prefer the Rebel Cruiser.

You can't really upgrade a bulk freighter to be a good warship; it doesn't have that much expansion space, is painfully slow, and can't be purchased by normal means. Should you want to try anyway, capture one (and use it as your ship), then exchange the outfits on it.

The "megapowerful ion cannon" isn't in the stock scenario for EV, please tell us what plugin you're using.

Bah, the Confederate Cruiser is much better. Your own flying fortress. Properly upgraded, it can easily be as fast as a stock Corvette, too.

Its the only ship in EV that stock accelerates as slow as a Voinian Cruiser (Accel: 95) is stock as slow as UE Destroyer (Speed: 150), and stock has a turning of Terrible. Also, properly upgraded, Rebel Cruiser can be faster than stock Corvette.

Hehe, the Rebel Destroyer is just as fast as the Corvette without any upgrades.

Outfitting your own Hot Rod Bulk Freighter can be fun, but it's way to expensive to really bother. Someone, please try to earn the credits from scratch (no cheating) for some 30+ mass expansions and all the secondary weaponry you've got room for. Then, tell me how long it took

The Confederation Cruiser is better, but neither ship is matches most players' fighting styles very well. The bulk freighter isn't a very good warship.

It seems to me that Confed Cruisers are really just big warships. Big. And slow. But powerful. Heh. This. Is really. Annoying. Isn't it?
But seriously, I prefer the Rebel Cruiser anyday. The Confed Cruiser is too slow for me, but it's all due to prefrence.

It seems to me that I like the Rebel Destroyer best. Perfect hit and run ship when you get all the speed upgrades. A great ship to start with, too.

War sucks.

It's no monster and it's still way way too expensive, but a hot-rod Bulk Freighter with all three armor upgrades and RCS, Thrust and Turn-upgrades can take some punishement. with a ECM it can even dodge missiles with fair success.

By the way, wih 10 jumps worth of fuel and almost no shields to speak of, it's a great ship to use with the cloaking device installed. Probably it's greatest advantage if you max it out with secondary weaponry. Perhaps one of the best hit-and-runners?

For there to be any way to categorize a warship as a "hit and run" vessel, it's gotta have speed. I see no success here on the part of the bulk freighter. Face it, the ship is badly overweight, a born cargo-hauler... hit and run will never be a successful role. Heh.

OK, if you want to be picky, "hit-cloak-and-run"...
My point is that it can be done and it can be effective. It just needs a different point of view than looking at the usual speed, defense and cost. I still wouldn't recommend it as a serious ship, but experimentation does adds to the game.

isnt the ion cannon the one that takes three minutes to charge and can almost wipe out a planet or a space station and any ship in its way, i havnt found it yet but i have heard about it, but how do you get the mass driver or space gatling gun

Correction When you get the Rebel Alien mission, you can purchase them from Palshife! Muahaha! I corrected a Mod!
When you do the Rebel Alien missions you get access to some other goodies as well, and if you do the Confed Alien missions you get access different slew of technology to purchase.

Except that completing the Confederation's Destroy Alien Cruiser mission gives you access to both Confederation and Rebellion technology.
