    • How do I get the boat?

Is the boat that's used to get to Reef Island the one in Berglum? I've talked to the man on the pier and he says he goes fishing once a week, but never offers use of the boat. I think sometime ago I completed the statue task south of Berglum but I'm not positive (that was quite a while ago). There are no thieves in the map immediately south of Berglum, just a campfire that is not burning. I can't recall be offered a boat. Is there something else I have to do first? Do I need a certain amount of cash? What?

    • Once you get the statue back, you should be able to ask if you can go to reef island

    • Juliar doesn't offer to take me to reef island and I'm now certain I've completed the statue task. Is there any cheat program that I can use to toggle that task flag?

    • In order to get to reef island you need to have 3rd level learning tree access. You look up "reef island" in the book on the third level, then go talk to the guy in Berglum, and ask him to take you too reef island. He then tells you to get the statue, which is located at the fire just south of Berglum, and is guarded by a bunch(maybe about half a dozen) mages, which shoot fireballs. If you have the statue it should appear in your inventory along with the other special items. You then take the statue to him and he will take you to reef island.

    • Thanks, FrogLogic. I'd never looked up Reef Island at the learning tree and so the question was unavailable when I talked to Juliar. It never occured to me that failing to look up something at the learning tree could prevent a task from being offered. I'm not sure I like that level of detail. It makes it too easy for the player to miss things in the game. At the very least, there should be a secondary method of accomplishing the task if the developers want to get that far down into the weeds. Anyway, thanks again!

    • So THAT'S what happened! I was using a seperate saved game in the 3rd level of the 'tree, so I wouldn't have to go all the way back to the tree every time I wanted to look something up.

I would simply save my current game, load up the one already in the tree, look up info, then re-open my current game. It saved me lots of time, rather that walking everywhere. Little did I know that I would have to look up stuff in my current game to trigger flags... not sure I like that... Man I was WONDERING what I was missing!
