I've been really itching for a good spaceship game for linux... freeciv got boring, and subspace isnt likely going to be ported either, so to make a long story short, any plans for making a linux version? (on a i868 btw)

I keep fairly up to date on ASW news, and as far as I know, there are no plans to ever port EV to another operating system. If you have a dual-boot of linux and windows, then the latest version of EV, Escape Velocity: Nova is being ported to windows, and you will eventually be able to play all three games on the EV:N engine through the use of plugins.

Yep, I ditto what he said.
Unless Ambrosia release EV as Open-source(and I doubt they will any time soon), there is almost no chance it will be ported to Linux.

Windows users have been able to use the Basilisk II emulator to run EV. You may want to try a Linux version of Basilisk II (though I've never tested that myself, it might work)...here's the Basilisk website:

Ah yes, I run (Stuffit of course), EV, EVO, Bubble Trouble, Maelstrom, Apeiron, Chiral, Barrack, and multiple EV and EVO plugs on my emulator and they all run without a hitch. (Except EVO. If you try running this game on an emulator boost it up to 225% speed, hit caps lock, and hope you have a fast computer.)
