There have been many devoted players of Escape Velocity contributing tons of material to the game over the years. I'm just curious to find out who everyone thinks has taken that extra step to new levels. I propose a nomination/voting system to find out. We'll let this thread be a nominating string and set up another for the actual voting in a week or so. Votes need not be cast for those nominated, but the nomination can serve as a good idea of who has done what. The top ten shall stand as the most influential people in EV history.
If people think this idea sucks, we can just let it die in committee.
I'll list a few nominees that I consider to have been very influential to the development of the Escape Velocity community and it's resources to get things rolling.
EVula. We all know him, we all love him, and we're all well aware of his self-promoting shameless advertising tactics. The fact is, he's been around forever and, simply put, is still here. He runs the largest information/resource site the community ever seen and has unarguably touched more people inside and outside of the community than anyone else. I've heard mention of evula.com from at least a couple of people I know, Mac users and not.
David Arthur. Need his knowledge of EV be contested? I think not. Another ancient in the EV community with knowledge and willingness to help people that has few rivals.
Sparks - EV Weekly coordinator, writer of the Dash Riprock storyline, and infamous clown of the EV boards of yesterday. Also played a significant role within the Hotline community. Anybody whos been around has at least heard the name Sparks2002
Skyhawk - Author of Final Battle, long-standing Admin of the boards, and operator of the most popular EV hotline server in history. Love him or hate him, just about everyone knows him.
Regulus - Reg is responsible for more random EV-Related stuff than anybody I know. From his recent mission map to his planet graphics, he's done just about everything. Also an influential member in the Hotline world and commander of a wealth of EV-Related knowledge.
Tofu - For those old enough to remember what a good dose of EVFG felt like. Also a part of (correct me if I'm wrong) several plugins, large and small.
Soul - This nomination is based on his work on the plugin Pale. A solo-job with good beta testing, this plugin dominates the field with it lack of bugs. Cleanly written, produced, and coded, it stands as an example of what every plugin should be. Definatly an influence on plugs since it's release.
Matt Burch - No introduction needed. Should we include him?
I know there are at least a few deserving people I didn't mention here so hopefully, somebody else will nominate them.
