I didn't know that other people could make plugins. It's amazing. I have escape velocity on my Quad 650 and just played Ev all the time. It kept me happy for 5 years! I know I probably sound stupid, that I don't know what a plugin was but imagine just being with original EV, now I have a choice of all these new ones. Thank god its the summer holiday or i would forget school and course work.

Funny. Us same-era EV guys think of the same plug-ins first. Mine were just in a slightly different order 
I'd also try New Horizons and Mugabi and Destiny...I've heard good things about Galactic Scourge and Clavius and Beyond, but those were a bit before my time and I haven't had the motivation to go try them. I'm sure they must be good though.
Also, I can't fail to mention Frozen Heart; however, it'd probably be a better experience to be playing that with EVO.

Hmm, I'm from approximately the same era - I would have chosen EVGE and Pale like you, but not Final Battle. I've never played a version that wasn't unusably buggy. I would have gone for Galactic Scourge.

I don't quite remember what happened, but I do remember that there was a major overhyping of the plug-in...but I probably didn't actually seriously play it for a while, because I held off until a decent version number and played the thing through -- it was pretty good. I actually found it a disappointment after the hype though.
Ah well...few plug-ins, even those with larger sizes, I'd say would match EVGE's vastness. It's just huge in many ways, and that makes it fun to play. It's probably the plug-in that lasted longest for me.
