Just Starcraft, or Brood War? I could show you a few things, but they're easier to show in a game than explaining. If you have the latest version of Brood War (you can patch it by just going on b-net if you don't), I have a spiffy replay where I essentially beat off two terrans players with just my own terran army. It started 2 vs. 2, but my ally died almost instantly, so he barely counts. I could email that if anyone wants to see it.

Noy until you have Brood War, no. It's not exactly a video, more like a database of everything that happened. You don't just see what I saw or anything, instead, the game runs, and you can look around freely and select things as you would in a regular game. You can set it up to see only what certain players see, what everyone could see, or just show the whole map. It's really sweet. How they keep the replays as small as they do, I have no clue - I think it's something like 36 k for a 25 minute game, at least for the one I'm talking about. Obviously, since my game was Brood War (Medics rule ), regular Starcraft can't handle some of the units involved. If you get on b-net, it should give you a patch that would allow replays automatically, though it wouldn't work for Brood War since you don't have that yet. Do'nt think I have any replays from just plain Starcraft, they're all BW.

You might not do so bad. I don't think I've played an actual game for a couple of months... need to get on and do that sometime soon. You do have Brood War, right? I don't like the original very much, as I've grown very used to having the extra units around to give me a hand.

What's the difference between starcraft battlechest and starcraft with the brood war expansion pack? The former costs about $50, while the latter costs about $20. And can I assume that whatever starcraft battlechest i buy supports mac as well as PC? Some on ebay say mac, others don't.

The Battle Chest comes with Retribution (a sinlge player campaign) in addition to Starcraft and Brood Wars. In my opinion Retribution is not worth the extra 30 dollars unless you are really dying for new single player levels.

BattleChest costs $50??? Where? I know I've seen it in town for $30, maybe even $25.

As for Mac/PC - if it says Mac, it will work on the Mac. If it doesn't, it probably still will, but don't absolutely count on it. I know I've heard of cross-platform CDs coming from PC-only boxes. I think most or all of the new CDs Blizzard makes are dual platform.

Spiffy. Well, go get the patch after you get it, and I can send you some of the highlights of my replay library. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to putting the finishing touches on that 118 mission Terran campaign I started a while back too.
