I have been playing the Pale plug for about a month now, and I am on the mission where you have to lead a battle group of mod-Cruisers (Confed and Rebel) to a system and kill 6 alien cruisers. I can't do it. How the heck is this mission possible? I'm in a Pale Strike Cruiser with 4 ion quads and 4 deuton swivel-cannons. I have the tractor beam, cloaking device, and a particle beam. How do I win with 18 alien fighters and 6 alien cruisers attacking me?

Using the tractor beam and all your primary weapons, it should be no sweat.

Just use the standard anti-alien cruiser tactic of staying behind him and firing. To get away from the other cruisers, lead one away from the pack and accelerate as you fight, thereby keeping him on the move and away from his friends you can help him. The fighters are a real pain in the ass, and your only hope there is to have your escorts engage them. Or, if you have a real fast ship, you can try to take out the fighters first. It's nearly impossible, though.

Ah yes, I've done that mission several times (without the tractor beam, too. It's quite a challenge). I mostly use the tactics ares1 mentioned, along with a few of my own...

With all those 'extra' weapons, you still can't do it? Just try harder. Use some tactics like listed above. Make sure you don't let the Alien Fighters get too close to you though. They can take you out in four seconds with continuous beamage!

I have killed all but three of the cruisers, but now all of the escorts are dead. If I ever get time to play, I think I know something that will work, because the three cruisers keep lumping together. (Cloaking device)
