I was trying to catch a lightning, I got in position, and suddenly captian Hector flys over and takes the lightning. ( in a fighter bay ) I havent registered for 361 days, are their any other disadvatages of not registering (wierd or obvious)

Register, or we'll have to send the boys with sticks after you. 
What you mentioned there appears to be a bug. The main thing that happens when unregistered is that hector shoots at you.

I owned an unregistered version of EV for some time, and Hector never did a thing (except for his annoying comm quotes ;)). I registered regardless... Heck, it's the least you can do to help Ambrosia out.

yeah, I think after a year he starts shooting. his hail quote also changes to "Die you software Pirate Scum!" or something like that.
Register.
He attacks you after 30 days (if you play regularly).

I had one copy for over 600 days (have multiple computers with EV on them. Only one has a registered copy), listed as being played for 150 or so hours (mostly from my little brothers), and Hector had yet to show his wrath.

I regestured mine in 97. I had it for about 3 months and I had him atack me once during that time. I think it was the day I got my code 
Anyways that mostlikly is a bug.

I wish he'd attacked me! I registered on my first year anniversary of having it unregistered.

heh, I found out a way to delete captain hector without registering. Make a plugin and change his pers ID so his shield mod is -100%. He will blow up every time he hypers into a system
