I have heard about the New Republic, but does anyone have any info on this old plug? Also where can i download Pale and do you have any info and descriptions of it?

Yup. As far as I know, its still being worked on, albeit very slowly. However, that was 9+ months ago, so it could have changed. If you go to the Hotline server Starlight, you may find more info (I don't have HL on this computer, so I can't give you the IP right now).

Um, ares1, you've got that a bit wrong. laer is Jos Delbar. Joe Burnette is a completely different person.
As far as New Republic goes, I used to be a beta tester, and I think I did get around to sending a couple bug reports, but never got any responses or anything. I think I'll drop an e-mail off by some people this afternoon regarding NR and see if anything's happened. I think the plug is mostly done, but there was still some work to be done at the time I was testing it.

Don't know whether I should be flattered or insulted by that.
No, I am not now and never have been laer, and I am still around if you use the term loosely.
New Republic has been in stasis for a while, but if some of the surviving developers can get together their is still hope. The plug is mostly complete except for cleaning up some serious mission bugs.

It's been too long.
I guess you could say that I'm currently in charge of New Republic. EVula was kind enough to inform me that people were talking about it here. I guess I might as well try to clear up some of the "Cryptic" shroud that's covered this plugin for the past 2 years.
I'd like to start by saying that the plugin has been very near to completion since I took over production. Kevin M Boots has been very active in it's development since that time as well. No actual work has been done on the plug since.... Hmmm... 8 months ago. The last actual work on the plug was completed by Joe, I believe, when he did some mission repairing, tweaking, writing, etc...
As soon as I can get my hands on the latest bug/todo list and a current copy of the plug, I'll start pecking away at the final stages of it's development. In fact, I think I'll try to do just that right now. I guess this means I'll have to come back here and post updates occasionally, huh?

A very old plug-in for Escape Velocity. I can't remember the exact plot, as it has been a long time (I remember reading about it when I was a newbie, to put it in perspective). I do remember that it was going to be awesome.

Seriously, New Republic is a major expansion/continuation of the EV universe/plot. The Rebellion has succeeded and the New Republic has been established, but the Confederation is still around trying for a comeback with some surprising allies. There are several new governments, new systems and planets to explore, and tons of new ships and outfits to buy, borrow, or steal.

Right After the Events in Escape Velocity
In human histroy it is noted that we have been in presute of speed since the begining of recorded time. The faster we go the faster we get there. Almost every invention has been made or discorveried in that presute. The advent of FTL (faster than light) Drives were no exception. On May 25 2177 the S.S. Great Expections launched from the Obital yards around Luna and set a cross for Mars. They bought the FTL on line and were at mars in a few hours instead of months like it usest to take. The Great Expansion was on. Until September 19, 2220, We thought we were alone still. On that day from the edge of human explored space the red mance came. They destroyed the outter colonies quickly and moved in towards the core worlds. The powerful human planets joined forces into a Confederation of planets to stop the aliens from reaching Earth. They succeed. They drove the Aliens back and proceed to wipe them out by destroying their homeworld. In 8 Short years we thought we got every last one of them. With no enemy and the taste of power in their mouth the Core worlds did not give up their power. They began to abuse the outer worlds and for the nexted 15 years striped, mined and destroy the outter worlds. On October 23, 2245 an insurrection began. The Rebels started to build a Navy and in 4 years were a true military force.The conflict between the Rebellion and the Confederate lasted 15 years in all. Both sides were an equitable match for each other, what the Confederates had in strength, the Rebels had in numbers and the will to be free. In the 13 year the tides turned. In the far reaches of space, a Rebel expeditionary force came upon an unknown fleet of ships. The Rebels salvaged all that they could, and returned to Palshife with their find. In a matter of days, they had discovered how to operate the alien ships. Thus the legendary BattleStars were born. The Rebels final had strength. Now was the time to take the offencive away form the Confederation.
When the Rebels went on the offensive. They Spread out their new BattleStars, and began hitting the outer worlds first, they were able to take many Confederation worlds. The Rebels offered a new way of life, a free life to do what the people wanted and not what others or the Government wanted them to do. Consequently many people of the newly conquered outer worlds joined the Rebel fleets. It seemed that the Rebellion could hold on to the outer worlds but the Confederation would not stand being confined for very long.
Then, the most horrific battle in the history of the human race, came. The Battle of Sol. Both sides knew it would come to this, but the Rebels tireless resourcefulness overcame the Confederate bureaucratic laziness and false sense of immortality. The Rebels had been placing opetives in the Confederate Navy's Gun ship fleet. The Rebels knew that the Confederation would have a limited number of patrol ships in the Sol system due to the fact that they had hit sevreal Patrolship factories recently. The Confederate Navy was also spread thin in a vain effort to regain the outer worlds. Two hundred of their planted pilots were at the controls of Confederate Gunboats when the Rebel fleet entered the Sol system. All fifteen Rebel BattleStars, one hundred Rebel Cruisers and one hundred and fifty Destroyers jumped in. The Confederation was unaware, most of their Cruisers were docked at Star dock Alpha for refitting. Most of their frigates were in the outer systems engaging the Rebel forces. The Confederation spotted the Rebel fleet as they passed a primary security web in the outer reaches of the Sol system. The Confederation sent out their gunboats to engage the Rebel Destroyers, take them out and jump back to the Barnard system. The Gunboats started for the Rebels, but to the Confederates surprise, joined the first wave of Rebel Mantas on course for the Confederation ships dock at Star dock Alpha. In two hours the entire Confederate Cruiser fleet was lost and the remaining Frigates and patrol ships were jumping out. The Confederation retreated, their fleet in shambles, leaving their seat of power on Earth for the protective embrace of the Serpens Nebula.
Twenty Years Have Passed.
In the chaotic years that followed, the Rebels took control of the core worlds and christened themselves 'The Republic'. However, many worlds fell into anarchy with the Confederation gone. Pirates were raipent, colonies that once were wealth now were in proverty. The Republic sweeped though these systems to stop the prirates from gaining control. The Republic pushed all pirates towards the east in order for them to battle the Confederation. The tought being they would destroy each other. Then the Republic left those wordls alone tring to keep the Confederation at bay in the Nebula. Eventually, a government was formed to unite the chaos in these systems and 'The League' came to be. The Confederation held position in the Serpens Nebula and other new found worlds on the far eastern side, and continued to wreak havoc on the eastern worlds. They were able to thrust their way both south and north of the nebula, taking planets as they went. They took enough planets to rival the Republic's power itself. Cut off from the Republic because of the Confederate offensives, Cydonia and Lethe ceased their petty struggle and formed the 'United Front' for mutual protection. They discovered a new, small cluster of stars to the south-east and colonized them, increasing their small empire by 5 fold.
In desperation to hold power and to regain peace throughout the galaxy the Republic devised a way to close off jump points, and limit movement in the eastern and southern systems. The Republic began to seal off the Nebula, but were unable to seal off certain systems due to gravimetric fluxes from the nearby stars. In these systems, the Republic built the mighty Vanguard Class Stations. Each station easily held enough power to turn back the pitiful Confederate raids, and held enough weaponry to turn back an entire fleet if it came to that. Then it happened, the BattleStars disappeared. The crews were found floating in space around the NGC-1325 system, one jump from Olympus. The Republic was confused and choose to look upon this as a freak accident, or at least they say. Fortunately they were already working to create a new Fleet of powerful ships.
The Confederation which had been holding back for year fifteen years now, only sneding raids out to try and upset the Republic. They had consolidated their power and waiting for the right moment to thrust through the Vanguard stations and into the ripe core worlds. With the Pirates now they joined to seek revenge agianst the Republic. For the past five years The'Alliance' have been making punitive strikes against the Republic and the League. Sending small groups of raiders past the Vanguard Stations quickly enough so that they weren't obliterated.
Recent Devoploments.
The Alliance is now fighting a war on two fronts, and are being attacked by aliens calling themselves the Ch'Eati from the east. They are looking for Allies in which to help them and sevreal indenpented worlds have joined them.
Many new worlds have been found to the north, and although they are independent, all are considering entrance to the Republic for protection from the Alliance.
In the far north-east, a powerful human race, lost in the Great Expansion and forced to triumph over great odds has been discovered by the Alliance. However, these 'Babylonians' as they call themselves seem to have no interest in relations with the Alliance, but several trade ships have arrived in Republic space to establish relations, and rumor has it that these Babylonians reside in a mighty Dyson Sphere.
A supernova has forced another race of aliens out of hiding to the south-west, they are secertive and very powerful.
Vicious Religious Fanatical groups are threatening the security of the Republic, and threaten to destroy it from the inside out. Rumor has it that the Republic has created a special force to deal with this problem.
But the most horrifying of all news, is that the original aliens, called the 'Ve'Eache' by the Babylonians seem to be back, and in force.
Things were definitely easier for for young captains 25 years ago, but that was then this is now, and you are a young budding pilot eager to make your way in the universe. So feel free to fly the stars....but watch your back, it's not the same galaxy your are use to hearing about.
