There really isn't a Rebel string to speak of. You have to join the LOI, switch to the TRDF at the branch point, which will eventually lead into a couple of missions for the regular rebels. Not much of a string, but it's the best there is.

Baku, there is another way. To get the Rebel missions, you're going to have to look hard and hope to find a man who will ask you to take him to Torgo to help cure a virus. Along the way you will run into the LOI, and by then you will have a good idea of what to do.
