First of all, hello...new poster here.
Second, I just defeated the Alien cruiser for the Confederation and the way I understand it is that I can now buy Confed cruiser/destroyer.
In which system can I buy these ships? I figured that it would be in Sol but I went there and all I could but was patrol ships.

Hrmm... I never fly the fed missions, but I would try Luna. If all you can get at Luna are patrol ships, then you probably have more missions to complete.

Yes, Luna is the place. Once you've successfully completed the Confederation alien string, all the Confed ships are available there.

Yeah. Them good 'ol southerners from Tennessee make the boards a better place. 
Speaking of which, two other recent members are from Tennessee. Clarksville and Ootewah (about fifteen minutes from my house) to be exact...
Anyway, back to the subject. dmbfan41, if you have the original version of Escape Velocity, a bug will not allow the Confederation shipyard to be accessed. I believe version 1.1 fixed this bug, but complaints have been posted previously about the same thing... Update to the newest version if you haven't yet done so.

Hey, Charmin. It's nice to see you posting on the boards.
It seems to me that the only purpose of a sig is to hype your website. Typing in a URL every message gets tedious. And in this increasingly commercial world, advertisements cannot be escaped. Even on our web boards...

I use clipboards 1 and 2 for stuff that I'm using at the moment, and the rest for stuff that I may need later (its saved through restarts, too, if you register).

On topic, earlier versions of EV seem to be kind enough to a) give you Confed warships at Luna's shipyard after completing the aliens missions and 
having a beautifully designed Luna, fully equipped with a total lack of a shipyard.
