      I prefer the Manta.

      I haven't checked it in 1.0.5 but in older versions you could sell the Manta's missiles then add laser cannons since the swivel lasers don't count as fixed guns.....

      Oh, spl_cadet by the time you finish the Alien missions so the fighters can be purchased the price hike isn't an effective way to force players to side with the Rebels. Anyone remember how many credits they pay for that mission?

      Actually, this is the case in version 1.0.5 as well. Hours ago, I did just that. I bought a Manta, and added three additional laser cannons to the already-effective swivel lasers. The result? Some serious firepower. 😉

      Although I've never been in either ship, when I'm passing by in My Viper, it seems that the Rebel Mantas always win. No matter how many there are. And hey! It's cheaper too!

      Your Viper? That's not a stock EV ship.

      Mantas are just used better in EV. They unload faster from the cruiser, and they are dirt cheap compared to the Patrol Boat. I wasn't aware that swivel lasers didn't take up gunslots. That makes the Manta even better.

      Just to make this interesting, Skyblade, you should have made it Manta vs. Confed Gunboat. The Manta and Patrol ship are even except for the Manta's obvious advantages of price, swivels, and performance.

      I move that the poll be amended to strike the Confederation Patrol Ship and add the Confederation Gunboat as opposition. Second? 😉

      I vote Manta against either Confed Fighter.

      Junkboats are slow and annoying. However, if I had a chance to fly in either a Manta or a Gunboat, I'd take the Gunboat. My reasons? The weapons space. If you ditch that rocket launcher you can stock up on hordes of missiles. With engine upgrades you can be be as fast a a Manta. Plus they're slightly better protected in terms of armor.

      Of course, they're still grossly overpriced.

      I never fly fighters in the stock EV scenario, so AI performance is what matters to me, and therefore the Patrol Ship is more valuable. Plus, it's just so much nicer looking.

      I never fly the stock fighters, either. Or any fighters, for that matter. I need something that can hold a lot of proton turrets and some torpedos. A fighter is basically useless unless it's in a huge squadron of fighters that can swarm stuff.

      I also go for the Mant since it has speed.
      How ever, to challenge your habilities, take the Patrol ship, equip it as a Manta and try to get rid of Matt Burch or any easier target. It gets harder.

      Hmm..... Believe it or not, for me, this is a hard one.

      In my opinion, nothing is better than a good 'ol Lightning. But Manta vs Patrol Ship?

      First off, whenever I play the Patrol Ship seems to have more missiles. But I checked up, and no.

      But someone changed the Manta sprite with this new version! It looks horrible!

      Gah, I can't vote.

      Yes, I've noticed how many of the EV ships seem to fire off more missiles than ResEdit says they hold. The Patrol Ship usually fires off three, when it's supposed to carry two. The Kestrel holds ten missiles, when it usually fires of around sixteen. Weird...

      Agreed. Lightning is the way to go.

      How many times do have to explain this? 😛 AI ships get 175% of the ammo they're supposed to, rounded down. Your ship launched fighters get 50%, alos rounded down, and your other escorts get normal. Haven't tested to see what your escorts' fighters get, because I so rarely use escorts...

      Is it possible to give AI vessels 100% ammo? Haven't ever seen an option on that...

      Side note - pers ships don't get extra unless it's specified in the resource, and I'm not sure if fleets get the extra juice or not.
