But the bay can launch all 4 at once, and that is a lot of renewable missiles and firepower heading towards your opponent.

    • 'Vette, "period."

See my "Most OVER-rated Ship -- and Why?" thread. The Kestrel is the most over-rated.

Maneuverability is my key preference. Scout Ship - Corvette - Rebel Destroyer; that's my progression of choice.

Hey, looks like someone who matches my play style exactly!
Cool thing about the Rebel Destroyer is that you can load it with Protons, still have space to load a lot of secondaries, and you're virtually invincible. AI ships are too stupid to shoot Torps at you with an RCS upgade (not that any would hit anyway), and add a Missile Jammer and you can dodge Missiles easily. That rules out being hit at a dsitance, and you can easily duck in out of enemies firing range at will, so that can't kill you up close. Only way to die with hat setup is carelessness. Works with a 'Vette too, but it can't kill as much stuff. Well, OK, so it can kill anything but a gov Cruiser, and maybe that if I worked on it hard enough.

    • Actually, the Kestrel is just as maneuverable as the Corvette. That said, I prefer the Corvette. The cheaper the ship, the more stuff you can cram into it.

No. The corvette is more manueverable than the kestrel. And the kestrel has more upgrading room than the 'vette.

Take another look at the data files, my friend.
I never said it didn't. My point was that you don't have to run 40 rush deliveries to get it.

    • I vote Corvette for every reason that was posted. You can steal and sell Lightnings in any ship with the tracor beam, you just can't use 'em.

Follow-up Q:What's faster, 'Vette or Destroyer?

      ------------------
This is the end of my post.

    • They're the same speed.

However, the Destroyer has better acceleration (in fact, the best in the game, aside from the Aliens) so it could be considered "faster" if you really wanted to.

Both have equal speed, but the Destroyer accelerates faster than the 'Vette. Of course, the RD is the best ship in the game, and outclasses them both.

      400, actually.

And the Corvette is indeed more manuverable. Perhaps you need to look at the data files. They have the same turning speed, but this is not the only measure of manuverability. The 'vette is faster and has better acceleration.

    • Having compared the 'Vette and the Kestrel, I'll take the Corvette. It's what, 8 mil cheaper and it's firepower isn't that much behind? Besides, you can also put a fighter bay on the Corvette. Sweet.

Maneuverability = how fast a ship turns

In my 'Vette I can take a Confed Cruiser at least 8 of 10 times with the Rosey manuever. (Those other two times, if my armor is getting too low -- and I'm paying attention -- I merely lift off of the autopilot key ... and slingshot away from the Cruiser to recharge.)

That is the specific definition. However it is naturally assumed on these boards it covers performance, as well.

So? I can defeat a confed cow in a clipper. The only trouble are the fighters, they're pretty annoying. However, I can only do the Rebel Cruiser in a Rapier, the darn fighters all launch and pester me in a group. The cruisers are easy.
