Why is it that the aliens are red, the same color as the rebels?

Because the rebels are traitors to the rest of humanity and merely want to distract the Confederacy while the alien fleet builds up in preparation for the attack on the homeworld, Earth. Wasn't that obvious?

uhh, well, you know how it is. when you close your eyes, everythings red, so you view the world through a different point of view. now those aliens, they view the world in the different way, so there ships are red. the rebels, they just decided that, since the aliens were viewing the world in that different point of view, that they could build their pwn ships like that. but they secretly changed the plans and mixed the two point of views and decided to build their ships that way. so now, they use both points of views to make them better.

I think, because blue=Confed, green=Independents, what remains is red=Rebels. ID of gφvt resources: Confed=0, Rebels=1, Aliens=12. You see? 12=0+1+11, while 11=1+10. So Rebels are red, Aliens have to be. Easy, huh

Encounter one Rebel, and what you might see is a human with a poignantly acute eye for oppurtunity. Encounter two, and you see a partnership in vice. But look at all of them, the whole group, and what do you see?
Us.
Faith, madness, the same. For a very good reason. Remember: upon your death and rebirth, while you were drifting in the void, That Faith called out to you. You looked to see where it came from. To use a simple metaphor, where other humans were still scrunching their eyes shut, refusing to look at what lay between worlds, you looked. And You Saw.
Now you see, whena Rebel is brought across the threshold, The Faith calls out to him. The not-quite-beliving hears the voice, and looks to the right. And He sees.
Keep that in mind. No group understands it better than the Aliens. Nobody.
It's all about the Aliens. They ALL look, and look what it got them...
The threshold of invincibility. THEY WERE SO CLOSE! THEY COULD ALL SEE, ALL AT ONCE!
Look at the Rebels. Many, most of the see. And look where they are.
They're winning.
They are so close, and they can almost see it.
And when they do... Well, I hope I'm not around when the open their eyes all at once, with that uniform strength, their resolve behind them.
The Confederation doesn't stand a chance. Nobody there is willing to open their eyes. The sit quiet, and are just waiting for the end.

Not all green ships are independant. The 'Civillian' confederates, roasting in their all-mighty glory, are GREEN! Are they independant? NO! They sit, and watch from the first world. The beautiful, unspoiled first world. They've not a care or wish to see the second, the burnt, tarnished second world. Mutiliated, abused for SO LONG by the Confederation. THEY SAW, but the only SAW THEIR WORLD. And their world was SO GOOD, they had no need to change it!
THEY SAW.

Many independants are not green. So many grays. So many grays.
All the powerfull peoples are gray. No 'Rebel Reds', no 'Confed Blues'. Gray. What is gray? The people trapped in the limbo between worlds. They close their eyes tighter, because they know they are stuck, that they will stay in that place untill they die. Hunters, pirates, mercenaries, all gray. Kestrels, Rapiers, Shuttles, all gray... They are smart enough to ball up and just wait for their fates to claim them. Where they are, there is NO RESISTING! They really can't see, either. If they saw, they'd become another, a 'Rebel' or a 'Confederate'.
THEY DO NOT SEE!

What are such titles, 'Rebel', 'Alien', and 'Confederate', to those peoples, the people who claim them and fight for them?
Honor. They have SEEN! They see what is coming, and fight for the 'Destiny' of their galaxy over it. They see, and they know, and they prepare. They have SEEN the coming, and they prepare for it by war.
They've never known anything else.

The self-styled 'Rebels' see what is coming. And they rightly fear it.
The Confederates are blind to what is coming, content to sit in power, for the time being. If only they knew...
The 'Independants' are not as such. Their cargo, their bounty missions, have affected how Clotho's hand will twist events, entangling their own destiny. And we cannot, could never fallow their noble path.

Only you can see, see the truth. See the mirror?
Break the mirror.
You'll never get anywhere is you think moving that reflection of yourself is going to change anything...
Look beyond the mirror. Look at what the world has become.

Rebels - Because red is the color of life, and also is used in history as a very patriotic color.

Aliens - Chances are they use some alien metal for their hull which just happens to be red.

Nah. Aliens have organic hulls, which is why the suck so much.
And I can't think of a sensible material that is red...
Copper or magnesium would fall into the catergory of 'Suck'

because they need the red color to absorb energy from solar flares. They use the energy to charge their high power shields.

because they both have the same favorite clor.

because the aliens wanted to be just like the Rebels-'cuz they're cool.

Alright. Put it this wasy: it started that the rebels are pissed off... ever seen a pissed off 15 year old girl on her period.. she gets DAMN red. Green: nuetral.... I mean if you put it this way, how many times is green showing that everything is ok? (not to hot; not to cold etc) confeds are blue because they have the power. and aliens are red because along with the rebels they have no power and WAN'T some of the confed's power
