You know Macavenger, it's true what they say about you. If anyone is in an argument with you, even if they're right, they'll probably lose. Well, uh, I guess. I've actually never encountered an alien cruiser in the game though. If need be, I will retreat. I'm not gonna go and lose all of my ships in one battle. Remember, the alien super cruisers have more stuff though.

And if you ever met an Alien cruiser in the game, you would have to destroy it, not retreat, because you would only see one in a mission to eliminate it, outside plug-ins.

OK, perhaps I'm not precisely clear on exactly what Insano is using here, so would you like to spell it out for me, Insano? When you say 150 Alien Cruisers, what kind of weapons are we talking here? Standard from the game, or what?

No, those are not standard. But, in only two ways are they not. They have the transporters, and, they have armor. Armor about equivelant to a confed frigate. Of course, that's the description of those alien cruisers. The cruisers from the fleet on the way are much better. I explained it in an earlier post. This thread reached the 2 page point. Hopefully that's a good sign this will be a successful thread. And, do you think this being called battle for sol 2 and skyblade's battle for sol episode 2 are too similair?

Oh, you got more than 10 ship, but only one or maybe 2 of the Supercruisers.
So can you tell me exactly what this massed fleet fo yours is? I looked back though your posts here, and I don't see anything clear on what I'm fighting.

300 alien super cruisers. Those are all the alien super cruisers I have.
200 super kestrels from Ruby.
100 super kestrels from Pirate's Cove.
All the fighters that come with these ships, plus some corvettes. -

The huge fleet comes in from four directions. The Rebels aren't ready, but the Pirate King is.
"Commander, start the holograph."
Twenty Berram Juggernaughts entered the system. Or at least that's what everyone else thought.
(On the head Alien Supercruiser:)
"Master! The Berram have returned!" shouted the systems officer.
"What? Oh no! Retreat! Tell all ships to retreat! Use the super-transporters to get us out!" ordered the Alien Prince.
All AoE, Pirate, and Alien ships turned and ran. As soon as they had all left the Berram ships disappeared, and a Pirate Corvette appeared in their place. An angry face appeared on the screen.
"Prepare to die, Pirate dogs!"
The King grinned. "I just saved your lives. I made those ships appear. it scared the Aliens away."
"We could have handled them!" said the Rebel Officer.
The King grinned even more widely.
"I don't think so. Now you just land, and I'll talk to the rebel President."

That sounded an awful lot like a single post battle to me. I think it would have happened more like this.
The pirates, not knowing what these ships are, try to shoot it. The laser passes half way through the ship and eventually hits something. The hologram eventually malfunctions because the emitter was hit. All AoE ships then start to fire at the "Berram" and so do the Rebels because they figure out that those ships are Pirates. I'm not gonna post the results though.

Fine, you may think it would've happened more like that, but you can't change my post. You can have the Aliens come up with some other idea, but what I posted was not a single-post battle because there was no battle.

Gee, thanks for the commentary, as a plug designer, I think the raw code would be sufficient to give me a real good idea. :rolleyes:
The Rebel ships relaunched their fighters. For the time being, they avoided the Alien Supercruisers, but were not at all shy about getting close with anything else, and Deveastating it with Heavy Fusion beams and Turrets.
The Assault Carriers quickly trimmed the few Corvettes and went after the Kestrels. Supercruisers went for the SuperKestrels. All the ships could easily outrun the Alien Supercruisers, so if one came, they did. Meanwhile, Firefoxes from the Assault Carriers split into groups of 80 and attacked the Supercruisers at long range with Torpedoes. The Supercruiser usually dodged enough of the torpedoes to stay alive, but was always badly damaged.
The AoE ranged weapons were a bit of a menace, but not too bad, at least not to the Supercruisers. Anopther one went down, but the rest mostly stayerd fine. A good number of the Assault Carriers were taken out though, making the Firefox runs harder. Devil Rays launched from the Supercruisers did a good job keeping the Alien fighters in check, even though they couldn't destroy them easily, they hounded them and were able to keep them off the other fighters making runs. Some Devil Rays dealt with Lightnings launched from pirate ships, though some were handled by the Supercruisers on sweep duty.
Overall, the Pirate Kestrels and Alien Cruisers were mostly on their way down, if not dead, but there were still over 275 Alien Supercruisers against a weakened Rebel Force.

On the planet below, no one was really worried about the attack, it didn't appear to be succeeding, so it was ignored. In the deep heart of Rebel Design HQ, the plans for the Rebel Assault Carrier Mk. III were being completed. This was still built on the Rebel Destroyer hull, but used all the new Rebel technology, including Heavy Fusion Turrets, the new energy matricies and the other upgrades they allowed. They would still carry Firefoxes for ranged punch, though once completed they would be nearly as strong as the Supercruisers, if not as well armed. The Firefoxees added a different strategic dimension than Devil Rays,, though Devil Rays were certainly superior in most respects. However, they could make two versions of Mk. III, one with Firefoxes, one with Devil Rays.
You can expect to see these popping up in a day or two, though the fleet may never be totally upgraded to them.

Meanwhile, back at the farm on Sol, Macavenger was preparing his own battlefleet. He had recieved word of the attack on Palshife. Now that the AoE had made the first move, they were going to pay for it. He turned his fleet toward the bypasses that would lead to Apollo and engaged.

OK, from what I see there my Alien Super Cruiser whoops your Reb Super Cruiser in shields and armor. But, it has an almost sickening shield recharge rate. OK, to combat this, the alien fleet used a brilliant (or stupid?) tactic. The enitre alien fleet, every super cruiser and fighter attacked one Reb Super Cruiser at once. With all of them attacking at once, they can't escape fire so easily. And, with that many weapons firing, shield recharge means almost nothing. OK, Mac, your turn.
