Hey, what about lasers, the fwish and blup from missles, rockets, and torpedoes, and explosions? Huh? HUH?!!! Yeah, that's what I thought. Without sound, EV would be very boring.

      See ya! 🙂

Those are the sounds added by your ship's computer, in order to comply with Confederate flight ordinance 512-B, which was passed after the University of Locari found that audio feedback decreased pilot error by 49%.

There's no sound at all in space. But who cares? I don't. If there were no sounds in space in EV then the game would be boring. Forget about realism, just play the game and have fun.

Yeah. Sometimes I have to mute the sounds while playing EVO because it gets too loud.

    • The sound is messed up on my iMac, so it remains really loud constantly. I haven't actually heard the EV sounds in a long time because of that...(always plug the head phones in and play without sound).

    • Yeouch. How about adjusting the system volume?

Doesn't do anything about the EV volume. All current versions of the engine work by adjusting the system volume, which is pretty awful if you have any of the recent Apple speakers. On my G4, all of the volume levels except Silent are painfully loud, and Silent isn't silent. This is fixed in Nova, though.

    • My most frustrating wall experiences are those when I disable a pirate 'Vette, Kestrel, or Rapier only to learn all that loot has drifted "just" out of reach on the other side of the barrier. Arrgh! All that work; not reward....

      Ouch, that's bad.

I think my first experience with "The Wall" was when I was just going forward seeing what would happen. Of course, then again, I may have been chasing a ship, I'm not sure...

    • I also remember making-out with a young woman while listening to Pink Floyd's "The Wall" 😉

    • I was dominating a planet, I think. I was trying to get away from the fighters and do that manuever where you fly just right so they are at the very edge, then ya shoot 'em and they don't shoot you (is that Monty Python?). Anyways, I hit "The Wall" and I don't remember what happened then. It's been, like, 3 or 4 years since then.

It was my early days of EV, and I was valiently exploring the Southeast corner of the map in my shuttlecraft. Upon running out of fuel, I decided that I would just bite the bullet and use my sub-light drives to get me there. My request was politely declined by an invisible force holding me at bay. Needless to say, I didn't use the "Strict Play" option again.

I was running away from about three dozen patrol ships. Then I stopped and went sidewards...
