    • Confeds and Rebels... derived from the same place!

      The year: 1861
      The setting: North America
      The conflict: Southern states of the United States of America break free.

      And call themselves the Confederate States of America, yet they are also called "rebels". So, the Confeds and the Rebels are actually... the same thing!

      Has anyone ever thought what the Rebels would do if they took over the Confederation? Start another one. Somehow, all forms of government fall back into an oligarchy. Read "Animal Farm".

      well, if the rebels took over the confeds, while they were busy painting their ships, the pirates would attack and then what would happen???!

      The pirates would take over. Then they'd get so corrupted (yes, there's room to expand on anyone) that every single merchant in the galaxy would come together and form the Merchant's Union, a powerful new underground movement that eventually wipes out the pirates and frees any surviving Confeds and Rebels, and tells them "Now get along, or I'll see you in H-E double hockey sticks!"

      Hey, that was pretty good. Anyone want to make a plug about that?

      I don't think either side is particularly derived from the American Civil War. There have been plenty of other Confederations and Rebellions in history.

      Hehe, good point. 😉

      What would the Rebels do? Probably hang all the really high-up Confed military guys who were involved in the creation of force labor. Then they'd probably throw all the other high-ups into prison, and fine the rest of the Confed military. Wouldn't do anything to the civillians. Don't ask me about what happens after that.

      They'd spend several years on war crimes trials of all the Confederate high-ups, divert large amounts of the Core Worlds income towards alleviating the relative poverty of the Fringes, and eventually the Core Worlds would be under repression as bad as that of the pre-insurrection Fringes. Sooner or later, the former Confederation would rebel against the new government (which would probably be called the Alliance) and we'd have a whole new civil war on our hands.

      they completely destroyed the conferation. they blew up all their ships, starting with the junkboat. leaving a few to use as add-on armor. they executed all high rank officers, and court marshalled all low rank officers, the rest were sent to concentration buildings until they agreed to join the rebellion. they then set off to pirate systems and destroyed their bases there. then the galaxy had peace. all thanks to General Ultimate Rebel, who led this attack (and of course survived with hardly a scratch). And was promoted to Grand General. 😄

      I say the war should coninue (for a little while) and should end with the domenation of both governments(strange coming from a rebel).Both governments whould be destroyed by the Aliens and in all the new EV games you would be as an alien.

      You must be joking. The Contra Rebels, the Mujahedeen rebels, the columbian rebels, shining path rebels, tamal tiger rebels, and so on. Confed rebels is just one of many. I recall that the preferred term nowadays is terrorist instead of rebel

      Anyway, the us civil war does not fit the causes of the EV civil war laid out in the introduction.

      Since their chief grievence was being oppressed and denied representation in the senate, I expect they will keep the current confed government structure, add themselves to the senate (where they become the majority), and vote themselves a large infusion of cash and privileges. The defeated confed military will be absorbed into the rebel military. Business will continue as usual.
