Ok, heres the thing. Im not a newbie to both EV and EVO, but i have never played as the Confederates in EV until now. So, because of this, I have a question: I have done many missions for the confederates up to this point, but it seems that the flow of new missions has stopped. yes, i am asked to track down rebel weapons conveys or blow up defecting ships, but nothing new. My question is, is there anything left for me to do? I mean, i got the particle weapon thingy (which promised the production of a new kind of cruiser or something), but since then, ive had nothing interesting to do. Thanks for any help you can give.

Hmmm...I haven't done the Confederation mission string in about two years, so I can't remember much. But I do remember that after getting the particle beam, you were getting close to finishing the missions for the Confederation. I don't know, I really can't remember...Sorry! I've worked for the Rebellion so much that I've basically forgotten all the Confederation missions...
Long live the Rebellion!

I'm guessing you've smashed the Rebel escort carrier...and you've been recruited for the alien cruiser mission. If so, I'm afraid you've pretty much reached the end of the road for Confederation missions in the original EV. If you crave more Confed excitement, you'll want to explore the various plugs available for download here (you may have checked that out already).

I am in the same situation, repeditive, go-nowhere misssions. The only difference with me is that I have no idea what you are talking about when you say "particle weapon". Have you played the Alien mission? Can you buy Confed ships? I think you know you're finished when you can buy Confed ships, that basically means you've done so many missions for them that they drafted you into their navy!

If you want to get this alien mission quick, just go to Mars(Luna,New Britain, etc.)check the
bar and if there are only "normal" missions offered, accept one of them and leave the bar.Now abort the mission you accepted. When you enter the bar again, the offered missions will have changed.(You can also change bar missions with aborting rush or cargo jobs)Do it this way until you´re offered new military missions(not these repeating ones),or even this one:".....
DB 4 in 2 h..."This is the mission you´re looking for!Q: If you´re ordered to escort the confed freighters to new Ireland,is it normal that they
disappear when you jump out of the system you met them?oh,excuse my grammar.thank u.

At the end of both the Rebel and Confed strings there are 2-3 missions involving the Alien Warship.
Once you've completed those, you're done.
NOTE: the Alien Warship is unbelievably hard to destroy, I'm a little disappointed that the dreadnought in EVO wasn't as hard. It's fighters recharge their shields extremely fast and cannot be destroyed in 1 blow to prevent that (even the forklift is worthless.).My advice: get some missiles or heavy rockets and sell everything else that takes up space.
when you get to the area (should be down south) only shoot for the cruiser, just try to dodge the fighters.
Don't attack if their aren't a few major capital ships in the area, (like bulk cruisers)
Best ship to do it with: Corvette, as the Kestrel is too slow for this kinda thing (although the kestrel is still my favorite.)Good luck.

Actually, one of the easiest ways to kill an Alien Cruiser is to simply get in a Corvette with as many Laser Turrets and Cannons as you can, then fly right up next to the Alien Cruiser and start firing, while always staying away from the front of the ship and its Heavy Fusion Beam. I once went up against a fleet of Alien Cruisers (in a plug), and I took out one easily then got away without a strach using that tactic.

particle beam can be quite effective against small ships because it does do a lot of damage you just cant fire it for very long. cloaking device is ok, but it also uses fuel and you can usualy just run away. best to just get both hee hee
