What trade routes do people use when they're saving up for an expensive new ship? I think trading medical supplies between New Istanbul and Turin V takes some beating (only one jump). Are there any other good ones?

Damn, I forget I haven't got the newest version. Any more? Come on I've got fighters to replace (when the rebels fitted the tractor beam to my ship, they stole my lightnings, hence I need to make 2 million credits).

Disabling and looting pirate Corvettes, Argosies, and Kestrels would probably be a quicker way to get cash. Just plop yourself in a pirate system with a planet or dominate the pirate planet/station so you can refuel and get more ammo there.

Of course, disabling and capturing a couple of pirate Lightnings would solve your problem altogether.

Rupert to Alkadion (food and industrial goods I belive)
Istanbul to Spica (Med goods and Metal I belive)
Capella to Maxwell's Purchase (Lux goods and something, I forget)

Or you can just go out to the... curzon system and hunt pirate argosies, they carry about 35k each.

Hope this helps, the top one got me an argosy then a vette.

Adhara->Lethe->Aries->Adhara
Carry medical supplies from Adhara to Lethe Prime, food from Lethe Prime to New Cydonia, metel from New Cydonia to Adhara. Plunder any pirates you see along the way (there WILL be some). Repeat as needed.
About a third of the time, you will arrive at Lethe Prime when it suffers an orbital bombardment. Various pirate ships roam the Adhara<->Lethe portion of the route.

Also, if you are in southeastern area, carry luxuries from virgo to sirgil starport.

Excellent, I've replaced the lightnings (any thoughts on why they disappeared?). Now I think i'll find some bulk freighters and make enough money to retire, or at least to get a rebel cruiser when I get that far.

if you have a kestral there is an easy way to make money. first sell your lightnings. now hire some shuttle craft escourts from a bar. this will make pirates come after you. disable the lightning pirates (three missiles will disable one) and board them. you will automaticaly add it to your bay 100% chance. then you can sell it for a million credits!! hee hee repeat until you have enough money to buy everything! hee hee hee hee
