    • Downloading Add Ons

I'm not a hacker, I just like to explore you guys' levels. I just downloaded five mpre of the add - ons and a really wierd thing happed. Two of them worked fine but three download as "Quicken" files and of course wouldn't open. Had anyone heard of this? I'm running OSX with classic in the background. Any idea where I could figure this out?

    • I haven't seen that problem before, but I know how to fix it. I'm not sure if you mean the level files or the .sit.hqx'es, so I'll tell you what to do for both:

If you can't open the .sit.hqx'es... change their extension to .sit. If they already are .sit, then find the actual application, Stuffit Expander, and drop the files to open on it. It should open them fine.

If you can't open the level files... somehow obtain a copy of ResEdit, if you don't have it already. From ResEdit, in the File menu, there should be "Get File/Folder Info..." as a menu item. Select that. From there, select the level file giving you problems. From there, in the Type: box, type Mwld, and in the Creator: box, type Msct.

If those don't work, post saying that. If they do, post saying that, too.

(edit)Oh, and one important thing I forgot. Welcome to the boards! (/edit)

Can you tell us which ones worked and which ones didn't? It would be easier to figure out. 🙂

The other three were Malcolm's World Teaser, Un-Ferazel and Origin of the Mist Potion. They downloaded but they had Quicken icons and file endings. I got frustrated and opened up Stuffit 7 to try and open them by manually placing them on the icon. Wasn't working. Quite by accident I dropped one on on the Drop Tar icon and that converted them into zip files ending in .tgz. I was amazed and tried them back on Stuffit which opened them up perfectly. i have yet to try them out to see if they are undamamged, but the buisness with having Quicken icons puzzles me. I'll let you know later if the files work and aren't corrupted. (p.s. to Blackdog..I haven't posted more than a few questions on the other board, thanks for remembering me.;)

Oh, hey, don't worry. That peculiar thing I did opened them up and they are working. I haven't had a chance to play them becasue some one pointed out Uplink to me and I am hooked right now. Thanks for being so considerate!

    • There's always the (url="http://"http://www.ferazel.net/webboard/files.php")ferazel.net addons(/url) section, though we're still working on the uploading problem :frown:

    • How odd, just a couple nights ago I had a dream where I had to use my browser's scroll bar to see the most recent thing I've seen and look what happens while I'm out at the festival...

Oh, and Geroditus, all I've really seen you do here since (url="http://"http://www.ferazel.net/")ferazel.net(/url) went up is advertize it. (url="http://"http://www.ferazel.net/")ferazel.net(/url) is nice and all, but I much prefer the ambrosia boards and add-on page. You won't see anything on (url="http://"http://www.ferazel.net/")ferazel.net(/url) coming from me any time soon.

Well, except for OBW, which has a level I made ages ago, but that's probably not coming soon...

I must admit I've been advertising it a bit too much, but that's because there's so much neat stuff on it... oh dear, there I go again.

The reason we have an addons section on ferazel.net is because of problems everyone was having with the ASW addons, but now that that's fixed, there isn't much point to the ferazel.net addons, is there (other than a mirror site)?

If you have any suggestions on how we could improve ferazel.net, go ahead and mention it on the (url="http://"http://www.ferazel.net/webboard/")webboards(/url).
