As I browse through the topics on this board, I notice that there are quite a few of you still using old versions. A quick tip is that 1.0.5 loads a lot faster than older versions, and it plays a small ammount faster, too. At least that's the experience I've had with four of my 68k machines. Let me know if you find out anything differently.

Yes, EV 1.0.5 loaded well on my old LCIII and Performa 68K. (Before I got my iMac... :))
I don't know how it compares with other versions though.
And EVO on the other hand.... CRAPPY on 68k. Simple as that.

Well, EVO isn't too crappy on 68k Macs, if you give it about 45 megs of memory. I played it a lot when my PPC crashed, but it's back up now (thank God!)

I don't know about EVO being crappy on a 68k. My performa 630 runs it perfectly OK (as long as it gets at least 15Mb of memory) and you set the speed at 200% in prefs. You might also want to turn 2x speed on.

In comparison to EV, EVO sucks on any machine. But that's just my view.

after playing EV, EVO was a BIG let down. It looked tacky, it played too slowly, and the ship design was rubbish. And the storyline just didn't have the same feeling of that in the first. You really sided with one government or the other in EV - in EVO it just doesn't matter who you side with. And the dreadnought mission was the worst thing I've ever had to play. Just ignore it and stick with EV until Nova comes along.
