I own a Kestrel with an ultimate rating. I have defeated literally hundreds of pirates,
because I've had this game for almost 5 years. In that time, I've done nothing but missions, bounty hunting, and rescues. I want to try to take over a planet. I know that to rule a planet, you have to hail them, demand a tribune, then defeat
the planets defense, but if you engage in that fight, does that mean the whole govt.
(confed.,rebel.)is after you? I don't want to screw up my whole game because of one mistake. I own 32,000,000 credits, I really don't feel like losing that, and I'm trying to avoid being a public enemy. Thanks for your help.

First of all, you don't want to attack the government systems. Demanding tribute will cause your legal status to drop, just like in any other system. First, attack the independent systems. Usually, they have a few defenders so domination isn't a problem. However, you WILL want to get a better ship. Go out and buy a heavy cruiser - either Confed or Rebel - preferably the latter, since it is faster...but regardless, once you start dominating systems, you will run into puny kestrel-equipped bounty hunters after you...relax. You won't lose all the $$$ - only your ship...and if you happen to screw up, just go and buy the fake ID to clean up your legal status in the confed systems, or blow up your ship to start fresh - all systems dominated, but clean legal status.

Depending on the plug you're playing (if you have one), you may run into a more powerful ship than just a puny Kestrel. Also, get your own escorts by capturing other pirate ships, preferably other Kestrels. Your escorts will attack the planet defenses and not be attacked themselves. And make sure you have a full complement of escorts on whatever ship you buy.

Take pirate bases first. It will improve legal status and it will get you some credits. Then independant, then rebel, then confed. The whole universe will be yours.

The better thing you can do is try to conquest the pirate planets.
5 years? I conquested every universe in a year, with a rebel ship, and lots of scorts, fighters, etc

Also, if you are worried, just copy your pilot file. Make an Evil Twin who dominates.

Yes, attacking a gov't planet makes the government hate you. he independants will hate you anyways and the pirates have hated you from the start. Attack rebel and confed systems last or you will be in a whole mess of troublem

If your playing evge you may run into condors that has a varity of fighters on plus several torpeados and several proton turrents. :eek:

U can always just commmand-d the pilote and try it!

Anybody here dominated all the planets without any cheating, plugs, etc? I only ever dominated the pirate, independent, and a coupla Confed and Rebel systems.

I started to dominate Sol, Earth. But, I had the game on
for like 3 days as I kept fighting them, but no cigar. I guess
it was just me in a Kestrel. I think I'll go get some Destroyers
and try again. Hehe, maybe I'll get some rebel cruisers.

Prepare to spend long ours. I had 1 rebel destroyer and 6 rebel cruisers, and I spent 4 days fighting. Pauseing to sleep eat and go out accastionally. But the total ours were almost 3 days on one planet. DOH, no life at all hehehe.
