I really dig that great brassy, powerful orchestra music at the beginning of EV... but I cannot for the life of me find an mp3 of it or even what it is called. I've heard it once beyond my mac's puny speakers at a zoo presentation of a big cat show so I know it's out there... will a true EV buff tell me the composer of the song or where I can find it? I'd be SO happy if you can help me!

What you can do Inst, it open the EV music file in resedit, select the snd resc., and convert it to a system 7 sound.

Incidentally, I believe that EV's music was specially composed for the game - you can't find it anywhere outside of EV.

Alternatively, you can use Drop Sound Roundup, an excellent program that extracts snd resources from anything.

Actually, it came from a huge music library called Killer Tracks. (http://www.killertracks.com/) As I recall, the selection of the EV title music was a highly technical process of Andrew playing sample after sample over the phone until I found one I liked.

Oops. Well, Matt still rocks just about everyone's world, but...
Giving me that URL didn't make the music any easier to obtain, sadly.
BMG wants money for that music! Perhaps I will take the advice an earlier poster offered me and extract the sound resources from EV (good advice, didn't know that was possible).
And the quest continues...

I can't seem to get the music for EVO. IS there any?? If there is, what would cause me not to be getting it?? I downloaded the game from this website.

get sound extractor from zdnet: (url="http://"http://www.macdownload.com")www.macdownload.com(/url)
then drag EV Music onto the app. the title track is (obviously) the longest one.

SOMEBODY has to know what the name of the Escape Velocity theme is (cmon MCB!! surely you can find out!! :). it is a famous classical piece, I've heard it several times before EV. was it a movie theme too?

if I remember right, the name of the piece is listed somewhere in the scrolling credits. I was so sure, in fact, I downloaded EV.bin to my PC and went through it with a hex editor hoping to find the string that named the music. no luck :frown: actually I found no strings from the game.
