Once again my comrades in arms have been of such great help, ignore them, the procedure to aquire Naval vessels from each side is long but very entertaining. For the Rebels, once you are flying a formidable vessel destroy Confederation freighters and fighters until you recieve a special mission from a Rebel operative in ANY spaceport bar. Your in! continue to go into spaceport bars when you land because that is where you get the assignments. The missions will gradually get harder and harder until you are assigned a mission that, if completed successfully, will grant you access to the Rebel ship yards on Palshife and reward you with ten million credits. The procedure is similar for the Confeds but (obvioucsly) start with destroying Mantas. Hope I have been of some help.
