    • web page help for movie

Well, I finished that ship, and I would like to show it off, so I created a web site, posted the ship move, and it won't work!

      Someone help me out here.

    • are you sure you uploaded the movie?

      ------------------

    • I found no movie; just a "broken" QuickTime image. Try uploading the movie again.

    • Yeah, it didn't work, that is the problem.

    • It probably got corrupted

      ~(^..^)

    • It seems that's likely the case. I downloaded the file, and quicktime player still could not read it---must have been some error when you upped it.

for reference, the file i downloaded was about 200K in size--is that right?

    • I ran into the same problem once when trying to put a movie on a site. here's some quick suggestions:
1 - Make sure you're uploading the movie as "Raw Data". When using Fetch, it's rather simple to do so. I can't offer any help for other FTP Apps.
2 - Make sure you use a universal Codec. "Video" and "Animation" are two that work rather well. To change the codec, open the movie with Movie Player 2.5 or, if you have a registered copy of QT3 or QT4, one of the more recent movie players and select File->Export. Click the options button to specify the codec, the quality, and any additional settings you want to include.
3 - if it's just a spin, I'd recomend making it a GIF image rather than a movie. There are lots of freeware and shareware programs that can turn a series of pict files into a GIF animation that's web ready. Look for them at (url="http://"http://www.tucows.com")www.tucows.com(/url) and (url="http://"http://www.download.com")www.download.com(/url).
4 - Use apple's new WebSharing abilities to make it work with your web browser on your computer first. I'll leave it up to you to figure out how to do so if you don't already know.

    • Yeah, I will reload it when I get home.

Be sure to check back, iots a cool ship.

BTW, wouldn't it be cool if EV used animated GIF's for graphics, instead of the 36 X 36 frame stuff?

    • Yeah, I keep uploading it, and it don't work, oh well, I will just put up the spin pict and hope people wont steal it.

    • You don't have to put a spin up to show it off. You can render the ship in a different view such as a nice 3/4 angle (Shipyard) or head on (Hail). I actually prefer to post those because I can render them at any resolution to bring out the finer details of the models. If you dou use the spin, You could also put in a theft-deterant device such as a watermark or removal of a row of the spin. The alternative is to stick the ship into a plugin to replace the shuttle, stuff and binhex (.hqx) that file, and pass it out to show it off like that.

    • When are you going to fix this thing? I want to see it. It sounded sweet. Alas, every time I try to see the broken film thing comes up.

    • Yeah! I fixed it everybody. Even pc users can see it.

This one is a download though, about 192 K. Btw, steal this gif, and I will hunt you down and kill you. Have fun 🙂

You will have to copy the url, put it in the site box, and press enter to get it to work
