    • Boss Level Help... Again.

I'm making a different boss level now (I sorta got the other one working) but I've got another problem. :frown: I copied the Fire Guardian level nto My World and then did some changing of the tiles (because the sprites always muck up when I make a boss level from scratch). The biggest change I made was that I replaced the fiery tiles with icy tiles, and the other main change was that I made the crates around the edge of the level contain Axe Goblins instead of health/magic powerups. (The other changes were just things like sprites added/removed after the Rock Barrier.)

But it didn't work. The wall on the left of the level won't show (the screen won't move over to show it), so the crates can't be seen. But if I shoot blind at them I can hear the wall crunch, then the crate blow up and then the Axe Goblins swing at me. I saw one 'Sprite Face Not Loaded' sprite, and the other was invisible, but I could tell it was there because I shot at it and blood appeared. 🙂

      Please help! 😕 :frown:

<Edit> Another thing I should probably mention is that I changed the starting position to under the acid (I think it's lava in the original level) pool in the centre of the level, so the player drops into a Dragon Cannon and is shot up through floor tiles. I think that this is also what happens at the start of Xichra's Lair. </Edit>

Have you go your secondary boss point set correctly? If you have it too far right you wouldn't be able to get to that point.

I've never tried Axe Goblins in crates but it is a fact that the original game has a similar problem sometimes in "Iceconoclasm" where the amoebas in crates don't always work. If you send me a copy of that level I'll have a look at it for you if you like.

I just copied the level from the original levels, so that should be right, but I'll check it out anyway.

Then maybe I'll just stick them behind the wall, but then again that really gets rid of the surprise... 😄

    • Extemporaneous has a level called Famuese (31, I think) with a similar set up: Fire Guardians Ice Level. I think I just added the monster like an enemy and then copied the level and sprite info from the original and made some changes like you did.
Hurm... this seems strange. Check out the Level Info and Extra Level info for any differences. If you would like I too will take a look at the level, but please keep the size of the file below 1 mb, thanks.

Your level info (15) (Boss Point) should be set to 400 or thereabouts. It's 592 at the moment which is too far across the level. This is why you can't move far enough left.

I can't get the axe goblins to work in any way shape or form - they always come up as unloaded sprites. If you want surprises I have an idea which I will send you. I won't give any details here because if you decide to adopt it it would spoil the surprise.

(I'm having a little password problem)

If you put an axe goblin somewhere else in the level, I think it'll fix your problem. I think the problem is that the engine loads all the different sprites in the level during that little progress dialog, but it doesn't check inside crates. Therefore it is unaware that there are any goblins and doesn't pre-load them. But if you put one goblin outside a crate and the rest inside, I believe it'll fix that problem.

On a side note, I won't be posting for about a month. I'm going on vacation. I'll see you people later. Bye!
