A question on Sensors, Nukes, & Backups

I've done a forum search, and what I turned up was a bit sketchy.

First, I found a forum post that said if your Motion Sensor light turns red, then you have about 5 minutes to activate your Gateway Nuke to prevent your sever from being seized intact. Is this accurate? If it's accurate, then having Fast Forward on when the Feds come to seize your machine will immediately kill you. Is there any other indication of warning that you might have to get around this problem? (On a side note, it might be a good idea to have the game automatically slow you down to normal speed if your Motion Sensor is on and it turns red. Can someone direct me to a Version History for the game? Is this idea already implemented?)

Second, I've heard mention that one can copy their important files to friendly servers for safekeeping... in the event that if you do successfully activate the Gateway Nuke at the proper time, then you can get a copy of your files from the friendly server. Can someone with firsthand (or reliable secondhand) experience cite specific examples where precisely this has been done?

      Thanks. 🙂

Yeah, you're pretty much screwed if you get a red when you're in fast forward. Personally, I never use fast forward, but for those of you who do, my only advice is to not get in that situation to begin with ;).

Ah yes, some missions provide you with legal access to file servers. Generally these are for LAN hacking missions involving large databases they want you to steal and upload. Well, nobody said you couldn't log back in after the mission is complete, delete all of that data, and put all your expensive programs in there for backup. It does work.

      Glad I could help.

    • About the fast foreward thing:
Fast foreward automatically stops when the sensor is activated.
So, let's say you are fast forewarding, when it turns yellow, you
      will automatically stop fast forewarding.

I don't know if it does this for yellow to red, but I know it does for
      grey to yellow.

    • mrxak, thanks. 🙂

You've done this yourself? You've seen this personally?

If so, then thanks. 🙂 That's good to know. What version of Uplink are you using?

    • That's an issue for me as well. Instantly caught by feds because I have FF on.
One must wonder, what a friendly company would do if they found you had saved Revalation to their computer......
