What happens if you somehow manage to miss the ARC storyline?
I mean, I got the email from the dead agent and went and hacked ARC (using bypasses and deleting my logs at Internic). I put the game onto fast mode and then thought to check the Uplink news, seeing that Arunmor had gotten nuked by revelation but I didn't do it.

Do I need to leave my logs on internic so ARC can trace me for contact?
And if I've missed it, is there any way to restart the story mode or should I go to backup game?

Depending on how far into the story the game has progressed, you can actually pick up some of the Arunmor missions from the BBS. I got one that way in a game that I let the storyline pass. So... Keep an eye out, but don't be afraid to start a new file - all you need to do is get to intermediate and then you can get 'Trace a Transfer' missions - instant money!

Well, money is not a problem. I transferred over 1 million from an account I had previously hacked and now I'm loaded for bear. Top hardware and everything else, still waiting to hear from ARC (I checked the strategy guide, it said to hack it with the bogus login/password) so I can get into the storyline.

You don't need to delete your logs after hacking into ARC but, they should still contact you even if you did. You can also join the ARC story line, without ever hacking their server, by accepting a mission from them on Uplink's server. If Faith Progress shows up on Uplink Internal Server's list of links then, I think it's too late to enter the story.
