    • The main goal in building my game is to bring more people into the Coldstone Community. I believe that we can better complete this goal if we advertise eachother's games for free on eachother's websites(Like a links section). If someone happened to stumble on one of our sites they would not just 1 but all of our games.

      1. This would increase the number of people playing our games.

      2. It would help get the name "Coldstone" out there.

      3. It would allow us to better help the Coldstone Community grow.

If anyone would like to participate in this please post of a link to your site and add (url="http://"http://www.warcraftcentral.net/Legends/main.html")http://www.warcraftc...gends/main.html(/url) to your links page.

    • How about we make a primary links page and link to that instead of linking to each individual site? That would keep the number of links down and make sure that everyone's site is linked to by everyone else.

    • I actually have a system on all (or at least should be on all) the sites on my server (M Cubed, Leddy's site and Yoggy's Site.)

Basically it is a javascript I found that brings up a random banner. If anyone wants to we could expand this to anyone who wants to use it (I'll host the script on my server). Basically you would put a link to the script file instead of hard coding it into your site. This would allow me to update it without you needing to do any work. Then you send me the URL of your banner and the link you want it to go to and I'll add it to the script. If everyone had this on at least their home page then it would increase traffic (probably).

I do have 1 rule. You can only have a certain number of banners. One for your site and one for each game or plug in you want to advertise. eg Debra could have one for her site and one for SW.

I think it was Graham's idea and you shouldn't steal it.

    • It doesn't really matter, let there be two.

Pilky isn't stealing anything, as he's said he's had his system in place for some time, he'd just be expanding it.

Graham appears to building the yellowpages of CGE games and websites.

      There's no need for one to eclipse the other especially if the goal is to benefit others, it can't possibly hurt;
      grow,
      spread,
      proliferate

...and negative attitudes toward genuine efforts, no matter how "ill-timed/spaced" doesn;t really need to lead to a competitive existance.

Bear in mind there already is a coldstone weblinks page, so now there are 3 confirmed.

( There was a webring in place years ago, unfortunately none of you really had websites at the time. )

      ------------------

      ... ** Big O..ACTION!**

    • Pilky has had this system in place for awhile. However, I intend this site to be geared toward the people looking for a good game to play, and possibly become a Coldstone developer. If you wish to post a link on this web site please send me an e-mail with the link to your site, and post a link of the CGD to your web page.

Edit: Ledorax, I updated the Web site to a more Coldstone style colors. If you like those better or don't like them at all let me know.

    • Simple Question. I have been considering putting a rating and game information system on the CGD. Would anyone like to see this features put in place. If I where to do so I would ask that someone with a neutral opinion(someone that is not currently building a game) would rate each completed game.

    • Well I think that if you are willing and able you could possibly make a rating system where people vote on a rating. Just a thought.

Unfortunitly I don't have a lot of HTML skill. I have no idea on how to create a rating system.

Well, if some you're gonna do voting, that is more easily done on the forums. Note though, that you can quite easily copy/paste the poll script from the polls used on these forums (EVula will have it) and post that up. Your file would need to be a .php file, but I think it would work out. An alternative would we to make a form to fill out for voting. If you need help with that I can do it. πŸ™‚

Anyway, this sounds like a good project. Keep working with it. This is bound to be a valuable resource for expanding our community. πŸ™‚

You can probably find something here, Graham. There's a lot of other nifty stuff throughout the resourceindex as well - and it also has a perl/cgi section if that's more your style than php. Good luck!

    • I like both those ideas. The one about the baners and the one about the yellow pages. I purchased ColdStone back when it came out and have started a number of games with it that I never finished. I also made interactive reports and the such with it. Now I'm working on a game I'm going to finish. But I had not heard of any real CS games. So we need to make the network strong. Also we should put all the CS games that are finished (like in a showcase) and stick them in a .dmg then have Macworld and Macaddict put them on there CDs. That would help too. Well untill later.

P.S. I'm not into codeing but I'm good at graphics. So if you need some help with desighn of the CS yelowpages web page. Or for the baners / logos for your games I can help. Jeff
