    • A few of expert questions

I have a TONNE of questions to ask to the experts:

Can you make the map change so that it turns dark and it's like night time?

How do you make a score board like they managed to on Cosmic Memory?

Can you make the ground so that if you were on ice, you could slide around?

Does anyone know if there is actually going to be a coldstone 4 windows? cos I saw it in the FAQ and they didn't actually say if it was true or not.

Can you make a open game dialog where you actually select a saved game with the name area and percentage complete?

finally, can you do HTML links in the dialogs?

    • Ok

again you need to read the other posts on the forum. one theres a search feature, second a few of your questions are answered in "zerowarrior150's" post.

the score broad is a location with stamps. by the way they didnt make this save with the game but you could very easily.

I think you could make an "ice effect" would take some creative thinkin and maybe invole takin control of the Hero NPC away from the player for a few moments.

Coldstone for Windows aint gonna happen IMHO, Beenox usaully ports stuff to Mac and even then they dont even seem to interested in supporting the version we have let alone doing anything new.

Yea open game dialog wtih a nice icon and a percent done not only sounds cool it wouldnt be to hard to script (if your askin if the CGE will do this for you. then no but you can do alot with a global place in the right expression.)

I beleive coldstone was/is to support this feature, with the "launch URL" event but Ive never tryd (if you do expirement with this then by all means please report back)

      again Namaste

Just put a transparent black/deep blue stamp over the map. That should work.

    • Sigh. I've answered too many questions on Windows Coldstone for my liking. In the faq, if you read all the questions, I have stated the following:

      Quote

      From the CS FAQ:
      **
Currently, no, there are no plans to release a Windows version of the CGE editor.**

      and

      Quote

a version of the editor has been made for internal testing by Beenox, but it will not be released due to stability issues, compatability problems and of course the fact that other projects take up Beenox's time now. Coldstone is now, and for the foreseeable future will remain a Mac only product. You can of course compile games for Windows, but the editor itself will not be released on the platform.

Perhaps people find the actual answer itself confusing, though Andrew/David clearly state that the editor is Macintosh only. I've edited now, and the answer is as follows:

      Quote

      **
The game editor itself (Coldstone) is Macintosh-only. There are currently no plans to release a Windows-native version of the editor, however the Coldstone developer tool can compile games to be played on Windows, Mac Classic (pre OS X), or Mac Carbon (post OS X) machines.

It's as simple as checking which platforms you're targeting when you compile your project.**

I hope that is a bit clearer for people now.

    • I know that the Coldstone manual isn't the best in the world, but it's a place to start understanding the basics about how to use the application program.

Also, a person figures things out by trying it -- manual in hand, Coldstone up and running. Many times I find I need to do things by trial and error until I learn how to problem-solve. In other words, it's a good idea to actually try to learn the basics. Then if a person has problems and can't figure out how to do something, the person writes on the board. It takes some effort to learn the best way to handle events and maps, etc. I find that people on this board have some terrific ideas, but to begin to understand those ideas in the first place, a person needs to know the basics. It takes time to learn. All of us have to do it, and I hope you stick with it. (I'm certainly not an expert, but I'm getting better at it.) Meantime, a person can always peruse past posts, even though the search isn't functioning right now.

As for graphics (like for sliding), there are a few sites on the internet. Otherwise, except for the graphics that come with Coldstone, we're pretty much on our own.

    • Having read your little secret (under "About my Twin"), I'll not reply to your posts again. It seems to me that you're not a serious game creator at all, but just want attention. And that kind of attention that you demonstrate in your little secret is to be pitied -- and ignored.

It really doesn't matter. Either he will shape up or he will have his posting privileges revoked.

I'm hoping that he chooses the former.

    • As is, Stark, I think this has gone a bit down the garden path. As such, if zone wishes to post questions in a more understandable fashion, I suggest that he should use another topic to do so.
