    • Modified PoG Graphics

Would it be illegal to take a pog graphic and remove a small part of a ground tile to make your game look like you want it? I have gone in and removed a small part of one of the ground tiles to make it fit around a house like I need it to.

      Thank you.

    • Hi

I would guess it would have to depend on what you plan to do with you game and how much you modify a tile.

sorta like song sampleing for P. Diddy or use a book a a reference or just plaigerising the whole thing.

If your intent is to barely change the tile and release a commercial game. id say copyright violater but if you cant recognize the PoG tile and your game is freeware. Go For It!

by way this post deserves a standard post disclaimer. " i dont repersent Ambrosia or Beenox nor do i even know any artists or lawyer to ask a question like this"

Yes. If you take a graphic and modify it, you are stealing it. If you have the right to use it then you can do whatever you want to it within the confines of the license. If you don't, then you don't.

I would suggest that you e-mail Ambrosia and ask them. Only proceed if they send you approval, and then keep that correspondance.

If it's a PoG-exclusive graphic, then probably yes, as Stark said. If it's a Coldstone graphic, and you're using it in a Coldstone game, I can't see any reason why it would be illegal.

    • Oops! He he, Yeah I meant Coldstone Graphics, not PoG. Yeah, Thats what I meant. Its some of the ground tiles like I said, and I need to extract a shadow and place it onto a road/grass ground tile. So that would be okay? Sweet.

If you have registered Coldstone then you are allowed to use, and modify, the Coldstone graphics set for use in a Coldstone game.
