Soap boxes down please.. No speaches are needed. We all know for what various reasons people use cheats and that's why they are built into the game. That's right- its not just for developers anymore.

With the "don't label me" attitudes aside I would like to know what cheats are available for the Macintosh. Don't be secretive. Those that want them won't force them down anyone elses throat.. A nice neat list of even a few useful ones would be nice.

This would not include instructions on playing the game (e.g. hacking a bank) It would simply involve a code or outside trainer of some sort.

If you don't plan on giving out the info- then don't reply. Seen too many cheat requests crushed by being lost in "why would you want to?" replies.

I personally would like to see..

adding credits to your account (CHEAT CODE or METHOD)

Or Mac HEX inst. for getting this work done. The PC ones do not work.

As far as hex... Decrypt your .usr file with RedshirtX, search for your credits (you need to convert to little endian) and... I'll let you work it out.

That would mean that someone at some stage inserted cheat codes into the Mac port. That doesn't sound a lot like IV, and the shareware and boxed versions are supposed to be functionally identical, so...

I invite you to notice that the FAQ does not mention codes, only cheats, of which there are many (hex editing, cheep gateways, etc). Though they don't exactly strike me as 'hidden'.

The only "cheat" that I know of is not in the Mac port.

In the original PC version, there was a "cheat" of sorts that was put in during testing and was mistakenly not taken out in the final product. I don't know exactly what it did... could someone elaborate for me?

Anyway, the 1.2 patch fixed this, and since the Mac port includes all the patches, it is most certainly not in the Mac port.

So, at this point, there is only RedShirtX, which, unfortunately for the OS9 users here, is only for OSX. Unless there is an OS9 version I hadn't heard about...?

ive figured out one cheat for sure:
go to (url="http://"http://www.modlink.net")www.modlink.net(/url) and download a new gateway... make the new folders "data" and "graphics" in ur uplink/data directory... open whatever txt file you had to put in the "data" folder and edit the first rather large number (this is the price of the gateway) to a negative number.. you can get this gateway AND get a bunch of free money....

There is no REDSHIRT decrypter for OS 9 at present... I'm sorry, but I don't really code for Classic :frown:

well, it is possible to activate the "TooManySecrets" code, but by editing the .exe (for windows anyway). i have done this, and there are quite a few funny bits in the code too i used a program called "upx" (or something). this gives expanded .exe's which can be viewed in a hex editor. some of this is still encoded however, and needs to be un-redshirted to view the rest
