Yes, but you can't tell who did it by the ReadMe that comes with the graphics. They are good, also.

I'm considering getting a 3D home design program to perhaps help make interiors. I don't know if that would help, however.

If they are slightly cartoonish(ie, fit into a PoG-style world) then I'd definitely be happy. 🙂

    • by interiors deb, do you mean more like furniture or drapery and rug design? you know more like objects and shape vs design? i guess you could always get los of furniture via 3d but the latter will take more artwork. also what exactly do you need interior wise? like a list maybe.......

Or do you mean something like wood texture, wall texture, etc. There are tons and tons of sites that offer free textures. These can be processed in Photoshop or something to look really cool, and at a minimal effort. Poke around my links a bit.

    • Interior of:

      tavern
      room in an inn
      library
      church
      stable

So I was thinking mix and match. I'm using the Coldstone images plus my own (and other's).

Dang, it turns out that my first map is completely corrupted. It's a really nice cave map, and now I have to do it all over again. It just will not work right!! Oh well, that's the breaks I guess. It just so happened that I had a person begin to play it, and the first thing that he said when he looked at it was, "Oh, cool!" I figure that not everybody has seen or played POG, although he was just looking at my menu screenshot when he said it. He liked the graphics once he got into the cave though. Too bad nothing worked, so he couldn't get into the story. I'd like to change the main interface, but I don't think that I have the talent. Not for a long while, anyway. Meantime, I'm plugging away at building "the world." I'm at the point now though that I'm going from map to map and actually finishing them off one by one. Anyway, that's what I'm doing. But only one or two hours a day, more on weekends. That'll change after a month and I can get into it more until fall semester. I think I actually might have a game by then (wishful thinking). As far as I'm concerned, anyone who I know on this board who wants it can have my game for free. The only way I know to say thanks to you terrific people.

      I ramble. Sorry. Good night.

    • It looks to me like the beginnings of a progress log.... I hesitantly suggest that you post one (hesitantly, as many people don't like to do this until they are a good ways along. I have no such qualms, however, as they say, "each to his (or her) own"). I would love to follow along as different games develop and I have a bunch of time on hand after finishing my PoG plugin, so I could help out a bit more (though school is beginning to soak up that time a bit...). Anyway, now I'M rambling. Back to the original topic: How about posting a progress log? 🙂

A progress log is really a web site where you post some screen shots (optional, but nice to have) and a description of the game and where you are as far as completing it. Then all the anxious wantaplayits can pester you about the release date. With my own plug-in about 80% done now, I might consider setting up such a site when it goes into the final beta stage. That way I don't spend any valuable time answering posts about "Is it soup yet?" Since my plug-in has not been "officially" anounced, there aren't any questions to ask.

Sure, we'd all like to see what you are doing, but you decide when you're up for revelation. 🙂 ~RD

The (url="http://"http://www.evula.org/rduck/")Kingdom of Garendall(/url) sectional map is easily printed from gif format pages.
Find those areas you missed the first time around. You'll want to explore those hidden areas now made accessible with Spells Expander.

    • Thought about using actual photographs myself for interiors and such.

Some weird party organisation here has all kinds of stuff that can be used for Gothic style parties, including complete mumies in coffins. And some second hand stores have all kinds of machineries, nobody knows what they actually are for, but they look awsome. Thought about visiting some scrapyards also.

Just bought a digital camera especially for this.

    • Oh, thanks RD, I see. No, I'm not ready yet since I haven't finished "the world" and I now have to remake the one finished map I've got. (Whiiiinnnee) I'm actually writing a Player's Manual as I go along with this, also. Gives keyboard code, etc. I think that when it's ready, I can post the manual also.

Watch your load time with photos, I suggest.

Nice idea, the lighting will be your main problem here, especially if you plan to cut up an image and tile it, but Photoshop will take care of that for you with some work.

    • I use photoshop alot and know 1st hand that NOTHING CAN SOLVE BAD LIGHTING.
just dont work. u will alsays get results that even if they look good alone, will produce blurs or lines at tile edges. if ur bent on using ur digital camera i sugest ONLY indoor shots with all lights off windows closed and now shadows cast on it, night time is best, then use a flash. this will give the most direct lighting u can get. also, watch your distance from an object and angle to it as small diferences become VERY apearent after tiling.
