    • [ANN] New policy regarding submissions to the addons directory

      Tarnćlion Andiyarus and I have decided on a policy for all submissions to the uploads directory. This is not meant to limit submissions in any way, but rather to bring uniformity and clarity to them. The following 3 criteria must be met when submitting something to the addons directory:

      1) Contact information: All submissions must include some way to contact the author. A readme file is preferred, but this can be done via the submissions description text. If there is a problem with the submission we need a way to contact the author to get it corrected. Furthermore, if someone uses your submission, they need a way to credit it.

      2) Credits where necessary: If your submission is not original then it must cite credits. Images taken from sources that have a license governing the use of said images(Coldstone CD for example) must include a reference to this license or the license itself(ie, "The images in this graphics set were taken from the Coldstone CD and are subject to the Coldstone License Agreement").

      3) Use policy: If your submission is original then it must include a use policy of how your submission can be used. Is it freely available for anything? Can it be used as long as credits are given? Detail your policy for your submission so that there is no misunderstandings.

      Any submissions that do not follow this criteria will be rejected. We will contact you by e-mail to let you know what the problem is so that you can correct it.

      Existing submissions not meeting the above criteria will be considered "grandfathered in" until such a time as it is reviewed and requested that it be corrected to meet the new standards. Frankly, this may or may not happen. If anyone has a current submission that does not meet the criteria and wishes to update their submissions, please drop one of us e-mail letting us know the name of the submission and we will delete it so that you can re-submit it with the corrections.

      If there are any questions to this, please feel free to ask.

      Thanks!

    • I have a question on this policy.... What is i took some of the small rocks thaqt come with coldstone( the small ones not the big huge one) and created a new stone item with it( SAY..oh i dunno...a bridge....) This is actually what i did, so do i have to say "The parts used to make this bridge are sent out standard with the coldstone cd" ???

    • You know it doesn't matter;
      what size it is...there are no loopholes.

      You may regard this as a policy but this is a form of copyright law, no matter how insignificant you might try to rationalize the portion of work you borrowed is the fact remains you played no part in that segment and the author deserves to be credited for their labor.

      Consider it the bibliography of your project.

      ... That staples it.
