    • Resource suggestions for Coldstone diary at Applelinks.com

Greetings everyone. I'm starting a project for Applelinks.com that will involve the creation of a game using Coldstone. As I progress, I'll be keeping an online diary at Applelinks. I plan to have the first entry up next week. So...

I've come across a lot of good suggestions here for sound and graphic resources, but I'd like some more. If you have any music programs or online resources you'd like to recommend, I'll check them out for inclusion in the article. The same goes for graphic apps/resources and even just general tips.

As I progress, my entries here will become much more technical. At this point, however, I'm just getting everything lined up for the big push into game development. I'll keep poking around, but feel free to guide me in a particular direction.

      Thanks,
      Kirk hiner

    • Welcome to the boards klytus!!! There are a few that are "must-haves" and a few others that I have heard are good, but I have done without. You should get Graphics Converter, a nice little app with a few useful features and Photoshop, the thing behind all my graphics. Both of these are very useful and will deal with your basic needs. If you want to start doing characters and detailed terrain I have heard Maya (terrain) and Poser (characters) are good. You really want to talk to dampeoples on this as he is the resident artist. Once again, welcome!!!

    • I'm covered on both Photoshop and GraphicConverter, so I guess I'm off to a good start. I'll be downloading ambient sounds, but I'll probably be writing my own music. I've written music before, but never on the computer. So much to learn.

      Thanks for the tips.

    • I saw my name, and figured i'd put in my 50 cents worth. My sig contains some links i've run across that may be helpful to you. Straytoaster maintains a nice link repository as well, (url="http://"http://homepage.mac.com/straytoaster/")http://homepage.mac.com/straytoaster/(/url)

Chaos, it's Bryce or Vue d'Esprit, not Maya for terrain.....while it's a very, very nice application, it's probably out of our price range at $2000, whereas bryce and Vue run around $200 or so.
