      Hi! Finally got my game up! Its called 'The Decider'
      '
      A few notes to read before downloading it:

      1. This is a small demo, it stops at the point where I stopped making it, I discontinued making the game when I got demotivated, if people download it and give me back some feedback, it will surely make me start making it again!

      2)Its in alpha stage so there are bugs, but not many. Whatever you do don't go into the church unless you save it before. I think I started to code a cutscene and the game just stops.

      1. Most of the graphics in The Decider are mine except, the desert scene, the characters, the interface and some other small thingys in the game. So credit goes to everyone who made the ones I didn't make.

      2. Read the readme for the controls.

      3. Thanks to: EVula for the account and the helpful people on the Coldstone webboard.

    • Did you draw all those grafics by yourself? They're pretty cool. I also think you should finish it, and when it's done send it to Ambrosia. They might like it and sell it for you.

    • An intriging plot. I'm assuming that the music really helps flesh out the game. All an all it's a really good alpha/beta. You should develop it further. Some polish and it could be really good shareware game. The feeling/story sort of reminds me of Gorky 13 of early Alone in the dark.

      Anyway my 2 bits. Oh and make the environment darker...Some street lights and such would be a really nice touch.

    • Wow! Your game looks amazing. I think it has the potential to be a great game. That said, a few gripes:

      1. You usually don't kill cleaning bots. In the death event of the cleaning bot, I'd add another passive bot that you can't attack at the same location using acutal X and actual Y as coordinates.

      2. This gripe I also have with PoG, but anyway... I think that you should add a run mode. You need to be able to run. It could be acomplished with a spell. Keydown event R: if gb_runon = 1 set gb_runon to 0 else
      set gb_runon to 1, cast spell Run*. This would help speed up the game a bit.
      *spell run would increase the speed of the player. It would have a duration of 1. It would also have: If gb_runon = 1 then cast the spell again, else, do nothing.

      3. Maybe due to the fact that the game is unfinished, but: after you enter your house, and go to bed, everything outside stays the same. The lady searching for money still thinks it is night time, the guard, the guy who discovered the cure... That needs to be fixed.

      4.The bug with the church, obviously. It seems that you have used a "change map position" action with out teleporting to a new map. That is the problem, I believe.

      Overall, it seems like it is a great game, and I definetly think you should continue it. If you would like, I can help alpha/beta test it.

    • Great job! I think with some more refinment it could be great.

      I think your chioces of ambient sounds and music were good. Overall it is the most promising thing I've seen done with CS.

      My only advice would be to just refine the graphics tighten up the jaggies and loose ends.

      Yes, the game does 'stop' after Richard goes to bed because I stopped making it than.

      As for the church, yes, I was making a cutscene and moved the player to another map, but I got rid of the map and most of the code.

      Well, the jaggies are kinda a problem, since white is the transpancy colour of coldstone, when I render pictures, the anti analiasing keeps a little bit of the white which is kinda annoying.

      This is what I want to fix about it, I need a new Mac, the game starts to run slow. 😛 And I want to fix up the walking animations, they seem a bit unrealistic.

      But thats enough motivation to make me keep making it. Thanks,

    • Coldstone does support alpha channels. I used poser too. The way around the jaggies is to render each frame with an alpha channel.

      I created an automated script in photoshop to select the figure in each frame using the alpha channel remove it from the background, delete the background and save for web as 24 bit png. Then, build your animations in Coldstone using the png with alpha.

      BTW: I love the cleaning bot!

      id personally like the graphics smaller like POG size as they would seem more detailed etc. sweet load bar too. got laid in the game pretty fast, always fun. good stuff. it would take alot of work to flesh it out and make it something big but very good job.

    • Ah, I like it! I think you should keep it up if you can. Though there's some spelling errors in a few places (especially the intro story). But nothing big.

    • The music is kinda in violation of copyright laws, I have Lord of the Rings, Metal Gear Solid 2 and Heavy Metal FAKK 2... So I can't exactly distribute it with that music. The sound effects are there still there, not many of them though. I was thinking some voice overs, but it would only be my voice...

      Yes, yes, sorry about the speeling, I sumtimes canot speel propeerly. I'll fix those problems. 😛

      I have big plans for the game, the player actually goes around the world, to China, Antarctica... The story has many good twists too.

      I need more people on the team though, anyone got some unique talents? 🙂

    • You know, since CGE is made to be easy to use, there are younger kids on the boards, who sometimes d/l the games. I personally would remove the hooker, and find a different way to do a full heal. (i.e. a rentable cryosleep chamber.)

    • AN excellent point BK. There are at least two 12-year old kids (maybe an 11) roaming around the boards. BK's idea is pretty good. A new building where you can spend the night. Anyway, keep working on the game. It looks good.

      We think alike, I was actually going to remove it! I find it pointless and it kinda lowers the player's character.

      Actually, I have decided to fully focus everything onto making this game now, so I have decided to go over everything and tune it up and continue the game!

      Also, could I get a step-by-step tutorial on getting rid of the jaggies. I use 3D Studio Max on PC but I can render out alpha channels of course.

      And can anyone help me with attention to detail, what more would you like to see in the streets? More NPC's? Rubbish? I am asking this because I am going over it now to fine tune it before I move on and do the rest.

      Anything will help!

    • I may have missed it, but actually put money in the streets, like the woman is looking for. Put sodas in the machine in the office (increase speed for a short while.) Add a clothing shop so you can more than the default shirt. Be able to enter the pharmacy, and have a NPC pharmacist. Put a cleaning bot wandering aimlessly in the streets at night, or maybe a policeman. While you're getting rid of the hooker, also delete the drug dealer. It as well brings down the player's character. You already have a pharmacy. Add more ways to make money, or get a wage at the end of the day.

    • Some exellent points I am going to do. I was actually also thinking of adding more ways to make money and deleting the Drug dealer! Anyway, I have also deleted the Teddy Quest for that young boy. It was kinda pointless. Also, if you have tried you cannot get past that area down at the bottom of the map, the gate looking thing. Thats a passage way to the next part of town. I am planning to put buisness places there so Richard can get a job. Also a bank, so you can get out loans and deposit and withdraw money. Than you can use an EFTPOS card at special events. I am doing this because in the game people can steal money from you.

      Also, another big change is that I am going to make a 3D intro movie instead of those text screens.

      Okay, I'll keep everyone posted as to how I am going with The Decider.

    • I'll help with the music too, if I can. It will provide a varied soundtrack, I think, because Guljared's music, or at least all of it that I've heard, is of a very different style to mine.
