    • I want my NPCs to die with style!

      Hi all,
Im trying to get my zombies to collapse in a bloody heap when they are slain by my mighty hero... but all they do is the default fade out in a very unspectacular way, shame.
I thought i could create a new "NPC," which just has a death animation and is destroyed on the final frame, on the coordinates of the dying NPC. However, the "NPC control" event doesn't seem to accept the tag values (&&ActualX; or &&ActualY;)... despite the fact it specifically says it will in the manual. it says i need values higher than 0. hmmmm...

anyone got any other ways? Im sure u'll agree that Zombies should explode in a shower of guts... it's just cool! 😛

      Cheers, Migraine.

    • Why not just create a stamp at the actual coordinates? Why do you need another NPC at all?

You need the patch. The now available (thank you, Dee!) 1.01 patch fixes the &&ActualX;,Y problem and even adds a drop-down menu.

There are other problems with this, as I'm sure you will realize. There is however an alternate solution. Have your NPC drop an item when they die, and make said item represented by the death animation. I am not sure, however, how to keep the player from then walking off with the item and producing a dying zombie on command....

Using a stamp (using a stamp control) that kills itself (using an animation flag) at the end of its animation would do the trick I think (using an item in this case wouldn't be appropriate).
