    • Vote for Chronicle of the Month

Well, here it is, the last week of April, and the first ever Chronicle of the Month competition is now open for voting! However, before you do make your vote, please take the time to read the following rules and conditions of the contest, so that your vote is counted, and so that I have less work to do at the end of it. 😉

First off, the rules are as follows. I will list several chronicles at the end of this post, but title and author. You may choose one of these, by whatever means you select (I suggest your favourite 🙂 ) and you may then post your vote. You may change your vote if you wish whilst the contest is still open, by editing your original post. If you post again with a separate vote, the second one will not be counted. Once the time period is up (I’ll give it a few days) this topic will be locked, the votes tallied, the winner will be given a reward and I’ll announce the winner in a new topic.

Now, some nitty gritty. You must be registered to vote. I’m sorry to any unregistered posters who may think I’m being unfair, but it is just too easy for someone to twice, or fifty times as an unregistered username, if they change it continually. I could of course perform an IP check, but that would take a great deal more effort than is really useful for this topic. Thus, it is simply easier if you register to post.

The awarding of the ‘prize’ will go as follows: Once the time of the competition’s closing has been reached, I will tally the votes, and the author with the majority of votes will be awarded one karma point, and will have the fact announced in a new topic. The runner up (if any) will be given an honourable mention in the new topic.

Notes: The authors of the chronicles may vote for their own stories if desired, as long as they remain within the rules. This competition will run once a month, at the conclusion of the month. And to make an ‘honourable mention’ more attractive, any member who is given two honourable mentions will be given one karma point, like a trade in kind of deal. 🙂

Anyway, onto April’s nominees, in order of release!

    • Since noone else seems to have bothered yet, I'll get the ball rolling with my vote (yes, yes, the judge gets to vote 😉 )

Now just a personal comment... no offence Robert, I love the story, but this time around my vote is going to llegolas, and the two Elflord chroncles. Why? Because he has created a fascinating tale with characters that I absolutely love. Tathalin, Tonnulf and Barinmar are gems, and I think that when the bug you mentioned gets resolved, this will make an excellent game.

      Beginning Vote tally:

      Cafall: 0
      Celchu: 0
      llegolas: 1
      Renyard: 0

    • The same = 2

    • Heh, I guess I forgot to post my actual vote last night, after I spent the time to read through all of them. 😛

I must say -- we've developed some pretty good chronicles. I like all of them. Each one has elements that I like more than others, each one has a little thing here and there I don't like.

I'm going to have to cast my vote for llegolas, also. Nice stories, though, everyone.

I won't lie to you, friend. Every man or woman who has stood their ground... everyone who has fought an OP has been /banned. But where they have failed, you will succeed. I've seen an OP /kick through a concrete firewall. Men have emptied entire scripts at them and hit nothing. But yet their power and their speed is still based on servers that have rules, so they will never be as powerful or as fast as you.

You know, people, it might be nice if everyone who viewed the topic voted...... just a thought, it's had twenty something views, and only three votes..... come on. If you have a valid reason for not voting, then tell us. Otherwise, we need your votes! 🙂

    • Evil sounding music blares up, the intro to Night on Bald Mountain to be specific. Fog machines release their gaseous load, and lights dance around the room. A lone figure strides in. It is Celchu.

I'm back! 🙂 And here's my vote : Elflord, by legolas. Keep up the good work, man.

Welcome back Robert! How was Disneyland?

Anyway, on topic, I came in to do a vote tally..... As they stand:

Well, it was Disney World actually, the only difference being that World is larger and has more parks nearby. 🙂 It was awesome, to say the least. It's the 100th birthday of Walt himself, I think, and so there were all sorts of parades, fireworks demonstrations, etc. I came in with our band, and we did a parade throughg MGM Studios, which was all of 15 minutes. The fireworks at Epcot had flamethrowers, too, so that was a nice touch.

Several roller coasters, all of them really fast. A few 3d movies, also, 1 of which broke down in the middle (some thing no movie should do), and after the parks, X-Box and Magic 'til dawn. 🙂 Suffice to say, I had fun.

BTW, someone vote for someone besides llegolas so we can have an honorable mention. ( BIG 😉 )

    • Well, just to be the first one I vote for Spear of the Sun! 😉
I know that not much has happened in SotS so far, and that there's barely anything in it (I should have done a word count on the other chronicles before I submitted mine), but although it probably won't get anymore votes (half the prologue doesn't tell you much, does it?) I'd like to get something at least a little bit better than a zero on the tally. 😄

    • I vote for llegolas. Though I extend a hearty congratulations to all who have posted their stories. It is easy to come up with an idea for a story, but not easy at all to put it to paper (so to speak). Keep up the good work folks.

Is "I haven't read any of the chronicles" a valid reason for not voting?

Seriously(well, the above is serious and true, heh), I check the topic because I've interacted with half of the authors and am interested in seeing how their stories are judged. I hope to have time at some point to go and read through the collections, but at the present time I do not.

But if you would like me to vote just for the sake of voting, I can certainly flip a coin between the people I know. But that would just be letting luck decide the "popularity" contest among people I know, and I don't think that is what you'd like. 🙂

Anyhow, keep up the good work Tarn, and I hope this jumpstarts aspiring authors to begin submitting thier work to you. And as mentioned, hopefully I'll find the time at some point to begin reading them too.

Of course, Stark. That's a perfectly valid excuse, and I think I should have reworded my comment a bit more.... precisely. If people don't have time, they don't have time, and that is all there is to it, really. Good comments, anyway, and yes, I hope this 'rewards system' does help to increase the flow of Chronicles to the board.

Anyway people, that's it for this month. iTally, and iLock.
