    • Yeah, I've almost completed a game.

My "StarField 2" has one level almost complete. I'm going to post the "1 level" version probably this coming week (week of Feb. 18th) as a "demo" version. The final incarnation has 5 levels planned.

A side scrolling space shooter is a little strange in ColdStone, but it's workable.

So I switched focus (time to finish this project 🙂 to Coldstone. I am impressed and I have lots done. Story is done, I will mostly be using the art shipped on the CD (don't want to extend the project dev time even more by making custom art), all the music is done (more will be made though :), and you can already play the first bit of the game.

The story and a few screenshots are on my company's page at http://www.chronostorm.net

I still haven't gotten many comments on the story, I'd appreciate if some people could post their thoughts on it?

Just keeping this thread alive! 🙂

      Thanks,

Cool, when will the other sections of the page be up?

Seriously, I never meant to imply the opposite... of course it is arduous and of course we don't have limitless time to pound away at our games... my apologies if I struck a nerve.

Bleh, you shouldn't be apologizing. I don't get why some of the people that were paying attention to pre-ASW Coldstone feel that they can be rude without consequence.

Well, perhaps-- but I always like to give people the benefit of the doubt, spread good web-board karma, you know. I haven't got a good hot flame anywhere inside me. Must have been all that asbestos in the schools growing up.

what was rude about that, really you yourself have , what 2-3 games, and you beta tsted with us, but yet you have no game yet have you?

and what do you mean paying attention to the pre-asw versions, if that was your unsubtle way of pointing to me, you got me... (especially since i'm pretty much the only active person from that period)...then again that's why you've put up karma..."do you"

      Hey ill_a_nois,
I took a look at your web-site-- some interesting stuff.
I think you are a creative person and I think you're doing neat things. It is brave and generous to put unfinished Coldstone games up for people to see and play with... that kind of "sharing progress" was why I posted my original message. I hope more people do the same!
      seriously, thanks.

Oh, I completely agree with the fact that real life is very busy and complicated, and hence games are not going to be produced immediately, but I thought the "so button it", was rather abrupt and rude.

And about the pre-ASW thing -- Chill was consistently rude and spammy, and liked to think that he had that right since he had been around longer -- so I'm a little bit touchy when it comes to similar situations. 🙂

      Congrats, JohnStokes!
      A playable game! Hurrah!
While certainly a bit rough around the edges, StarField2 is a very interesting experiment with Coldstone... side-scrolling CAN be done.
      I have 2 questions:
      1. Where did you get the music (INTENSE.mp3), and is it public domain?
      2. Have you taken a look at TNT Basic? It's a game engine like Coldstone, but designed to create fast-animation games (like side-scrolling games). There is an article about it at (url="http://"http://www.idevgames.com")www.idevgames.com(/url).

    • I am developing a game called Seveth Quest. It has 7 different maps, 2 modified and 5 origional with about 10% original graphics. All the maps are complete including access areas and movement between the maps. The first quest is 95% complete and the game is playable but with no intro or ending. I am also building a website to show it off but I am spending more time on the game rather than the website. The game so far uncompiled is almost 200 meg's in size. Once all the quests are complete (about four weeks) I will be looking for people to try it out. I am not sure how to get it to people based on it current size and I haven't included sound yet. I can be emailed at squak@outgun.com if you are interested.

Mmmmmh... the link doesn't work for me either. The URL you give in your message is not the same as the one in your signature -- unfortunately both give me a DNS error :frown:.

You're right. I made an error in the link, though my sig link is correct. I think the school's server was down for a time.

So, here's a direct link to the download.

Sounds like fun, squak-- you might submit a call here on the web boards for players-- and then burn the game on CDs and mail it off... BUT, there is a Stuffit Lite version for free, so you might be able to compress the game and distribute it that way without using all the bandwidth in Texas... 🙂
From a post on another board, it sounds like Ambrosia is welcoming game submissions to its "Addons" page... though I don't know how open-armed that policy is.
